Is there a bank that doesn't charge a monthly fee?

Anonymous
I've just discovered that BB&t charges a $10 maintenance fee every month if you don't have a balance of $1500 or have at least 6k in loans with them.
I'm so annoyed.
Any suggestions on banks that don't charge a fee ?

Whatever that bank is that Regis & Kelly market. Maybe credit unions.

Can't you just google "banks with no fees"?

Also, most banks waive account fees if you set up direct deposit. It takes a little time to research this yourself, but I am confident that you can do it.

i think that it just took you more time to write that sentence than it would have taken you to type in the name of a bank of which you aware that waives account fees. I really hope you don't try so hard IRL to be a pain in the ass.

Can you join a credit union? They typically don't charge fees.

I have BBT and have direct deposit of my paycheck. No fees. OP, are you able to do direct deposit?

If you can join a credit union, most of them do. Navy Federal is who I use.

I'm not able to have direct deposit right now. I am a nanny, and they dont use a payroll company.

If you have a student id, you can often get a free account that way as well.

Otherwise credit union is your best bet.

I do have a student I.D. I'll ask them about this thanks!

I'll look around for free checking for students, thanks everyone! bb&t says you have to be under 24 to get the free student banking.

I'm not being a pain in the ass, I'm showing someone that the internet is a bountiful resource and aside from posting on forums they can actually use it to do actual reasearch as opposed to asking other people to answer their questions.

I don't care if you think that means I'm being a pain in the ass. Life skills help people, hand outs typically don't.
