Without making a judgment on Cheh's legislation, I'd like to suggest that you discuss it on its merits, rather than implying that no legislation is worth doing if it is not more important than everything else within the Council's purview. By that reasoning, this site would not exist, since we surely all have "more important" things to do.

I don't see how introducing a piece of legislation of any type detracts from crime and education. Do we really think that legislative debate time is the reason our schools are not getting better? This is no better than the argument that somehow the country's fiscal problems are impacted by Obama playing a round of golf.

Since your comment follows mine, it appears to be a response to mine, so I'd like to say I don't think I was engaging in "Dumb ass rhetoric".

But much more importantly, weren't you actually defending the right to express an idea even if someone else thinks it's "Dumb ass rhetoric"? There has never been a lack of freedom to express ideas that are accepted by everyone.
