Where to buy jeans?

I have finally lost all of the baby weight I gained - yah! As a treat to myself, I want to buy a pair of fashionable jeans (i.e. not from the Gap or Costco (although I'm loving my Calvin Kleins!). The maximum I want to spend is $150. Can you recommend a store and/or a brand? I'm about 5'5" and about 120 lbs. TIA

I love joes jeans, too. Try to determine the style of jean you want too... Skinny, straight leg, wide leg, high waisted, etc.

Congrats on losing the baby weight!

I love Lucky Brand and its in your budget - Joe's and Denim Bar will be difficult to stay under 150.

Agreed. I'm your height and weight and love my Lucky's (great online sales too, if you register). I also really like AG Jeans.

Many designer jeans are pushing $200 these days. That's when I had to get off the bus (especially b/c I have to spend money to hem them, too).

I am 5'5" and 122 lbs. I love my Levi's. I know that sounds crazy and probably not quite "sexy", but I have to tell you, they have some GREAT cuts that look amazing and without the $150 price tag. I wouldn't trade them. They fit terrific, and fit EVERY curve.

Mavi jeans run about 100 bucks.

Pp here. You can shop at loehmanns and Nordstrom rack for good prices on otherwise overpriced jeans.

I just got back from Nordstrom's and I bought two pairs of the "premium" jeans. I'm really short and have lots of trouble finding jeans that fit. I tried Macy's first and tried on a bunch and they all looked hideous. Nordstrom just instituted a policy that if you have Norsdstrom card you can get 100 in alterations free. I now have two pairs of jeans that will be perfectly tailored to my body. Yes it was pricy but the last time I bought jeans was about 6 years ago. I work from home so I live in jeans.

There are many options for premium denim within your budget. Have you ever tried Level 99 jeans? They have 2 great style that would fit your body well and best of all they are under $100. If you are looking for a skinny/straight leg try the Lily (great for tucking into boots) or the Chloe for a tapered bootcut (bootcut that isn't too wide at the bottom) Check out this brand at Hand In Pocket http://handinpocket.com/denim.html?brand=74&dir=desc&order=position

I agree with this. They can look at your body type and recommend specific brands that would work.

I'm 50+ years old, 5'10" and considered slender, although my thighs and relatively smaller waist are the areas I have to consider when buying jeans--I'm flat across the tummy but not straight through the thighs. I'm willing to pay for the best fitting jeans possible and would appreciate any suggestions re brand and style. Thanks!

Which brands worked best for you, PP? Also, did you have anything altered other than the length? As another height-challenged DCUM poster, I'd love to know. TIA!
