Well, why did he lose control of the car then? If you are driving at a safe speed, this generally shouldn’t happen. (Again, this is a single-car accident.)

Well he was spending. Whomp...whomp...something most drivers have done, especially in a really nice car. Glad he didn’t lose his life or injure someone else. Hopefully a lesson has been learned.

In other words, Woods is entirely at fault. It was an accident of his own making. At a minimum, he should be ticketed accordingly, but he really should be criminally charged. The man has no business on the road. I don’t care much if he kills himself, but he presents a serious danger to others.

What criminal charge?

Speeding is not a criminal offense.

Ultimately I could see a DUI charge. Experts say his crash is consistent with the type of crash that might occur if a driver isn’t fully conscious/alert. He also had not one but several other known instances of intoxicated and extremely reckless driving. It’s an obvious pattern of behavior for Woods.

He was speeding.

There was no indication of alcohol or intoxication.

Your just reaching

The indication is that he totaled his car. He didn’t even press the brakes when his car went clear off the road! Don’t be so naive. He has a history of impaired driving. This is something that he has been known to do.

Well it appears he wasn’t this time. Also to those asking why he doesn’t have a driver, he has said many, many times that he likes to drive himself. Makes him feel normal. Looking, I’m not caping for Tiger, but he was speeding. He’s a thrill seeker. He was driving a very nice luxury car and wanted to give iit a go. I mean that’s not uncommon. I rented a Corvette for 2 weeks and definitely made sure that 140 mph on the dash wasn’t for show.

Why do you say that? I’d say flying entirely off the road without ever hitting your brakes suggests that something might have been wrong with him.

Actually he was driving normally then suddenly sped up , indicating he accidentally hit the gas instead of brake. This is why they offer a driver, driving an unfamiliar car.

So he accidentally hit the wrong pedal while also accidentally steering off of the road and right into a tree. That’s truly some terrible driving! Lots of us have driven rental cars without anywhere near such difficulty.

Dude was obviously inebriated. First responders found an empty pill bottle in Woods’ car and said he thought he was in Florida. (He told cops he was in California when he was arrested in Florida years ago for DUI.)

Yet relative to private vehicles, rental cars have been found to experience a higher collision rate per registered vehicle and these collisions often result in higher injury severity

Another thing that leads to accidents is driving while under the influence.

Driving 5-10mph over the speed limit, maybe even up to 15 mph if you’re on a highway, is something that most drivers have done. Worthy of a ticket and everyone moving on with their life. Driving FORTY mph over the limit is reckless driving and should result in revocation of your driver’s license and jail time. This is not an “accident” - it’s a very predictable result of reckless driving.

So did the jacka$$ who rented the Corvette and drove 140 mph. I HATE people like that.

I agree. I know of multiple 20 something year old males who went to my kid's high school who have been arrested for driving 120+ mph on the Dulles Toll Rd or beltway. The lockdown seems to have made this worse. Also anyone who causes a police chase deserves far worse punishment than they get.

How many times are we going to look away from Tiger’s DUIs and multiple reckless speeding g charges? When he kills someone? Even then, probably not.

This guy should be banned from ever getting behind the wheel again. Your average citizen would have been.
