True. But if he owns the house, it means she and her family don't have the money for upkeep and responsibilities of ownership. There are thousands of broke aristocratic families across Europe with albatross houses that are in disrepair.

The family house is dependent on her marriage to him. It's humiliating.

She would get the house in a divorce and he'd still have to pay for the upkeep.
