People who happen to disagree with you are not trolls. They just have different opinions. This business of labeling people whose opinions you don’t like, and running to Jeff to censor their views, is pathetic. |
Not if their views are hateful and untrue. The stupidity of the idea of the WTU shutting down schools is just so illogical. There are tons of post asking people to clarify why they think this by answering: Why are many private schools and charters closed then? (No union) If the union has the power to shutdown schools why aren’t teachers paid even more? Why do they still pay for supplies? Why is ‘fully fund our schools’ literally their slogan? And why would the WTU suddenly have power when the mayor was not even consulting them, until they begged to be added to the team and still aren’t consulted very often? |
Bowser herself said she couldn’t open schools because teachers were refusing to work. |
Teachers on other threads are thanking the WTU for closing schools. Y’all need to get your story straight. |
It’s perfectly appropriate to flag for deletion comments that are substanceless insults like “teachers are lazy.” But it is absolutely not trolling to discuss the role of the union. Sorry. |
+1 I'm a bit confused about why you think this random list of questions is relevant. The WTU absolutely told their members not to cooperate with any planning measures, including telling DCPS if they had pre-existing health conditions, etc. They did that to force the issue, so it would be too late to do anything but capitulate. It worked. Is this also the Mayor's fault? The Administration's fault? Yes, absolutely, plenty of blame to go around... But given virus conditions here at the moment, kids could absolutely be back in schools. I am hopeful that when NYC opens and lots of privates start to go back, the momentum will change and it will start to force the WTU's hands. But is this *partially* because of the WTU's tactics? Yes. To say otherwise is just ignoring reality. |
THE UNION DID NOT DO THIS. IN FACT, THEY TOLD THE 10 TEACHERS NOT TO DO THIS. 10 teachers out of 5,000 did this. .25% of teachers participated in this. |
Don’t get it twisted: you’re just an intolerant person. |
Teachers used sleazy political tactics to force schools to close. Now that they realize how unpopular they are, they’re pretending they had nothing to do with them. |
Ah, the "you're the real racist" move! Page 2 in the troll playbook. |
+1 |
I look forward to seeing your trolling deleted. carry on! |
We live in an age of intolerance. |
Schools have reopened in person across much of the country. |

Ah, I see I shouldn’t try to reason with hateful people. If you think the WTU is evil I no longer care. Honestly it doesn’t change my job or have any real meaningful impact on my life.
I guess it just is hurtful seeing parents get so angry at teachers for asking for safety measures. As a self-contained teacher 90% of my students will NOT wear masks, so yes I do expect the other safety methods to be implemented. Call me lazy or whatever, DL is so much harder than in person and more annoying to plan. I hate it and would rather start in person now, honestly winter hybrid scares me more. I’m not sure why people don’t understand that most humans fear death, the media has perpetuated this and the US has the highest Covid-19 related deaths. I know who I am and if the district says return in person I will do so. Continue this conversation about evil teachers, in 1-2 years time this will just be a memory. |
