Just spoke to an MCPS teacher who said she was 99% sure MCPS will be DL in the fall

I just heard that as well. There was a post on a Facebook page. Start with DL and move to part time in person starting Thanksgiving. Sounds like a doomed plan.

What FB page? I’m an MCPS employee and would really like to know the plan!

Seriously. Starting Thanksgiving, why? What's going to happen between now and then? What are they waiting for?

If this is true KMN

Someone screen shotted the FB message. I don’t know if the source is someone from MCPS or what.

Yes, let’s return to school around Thanksgiving when all viruses are at their peak, and our kids’ immune systems, weakened due to quarantine, will be especially vulnerable.

WHAT A JOKE !!!!!!!!

Smart! If numbers worsen extend til Jan 21 the DATE posted previously.
I’m all in for this.

Also saw a post that said that K, 6th and 9th will go back first

Do K 6th 9th go Sept?

The Thanksgiving date is intentional so that they can cancel in person due to virus load and go distance the entire year. Just watch.

What I heard was that initially no one would go back but that those grades would have priority when kids do return to the building. Whether any of this is true. I don’t know.

There are two you have to be invited to join. You must not be a teacher or other school-based, non-admin staff.

Smartest most responsible thing to do. I swear I saw a Jan date posted they have since retracted. I am all in for safe and healthy school start whenever. And I work.

I never would have believed there were so many people posting on DCUM that the safest, most responsible thing to do is for kids to miss 1 1/3 years of school.

Mcps is just using the "November" timeline as a place holder. Once it gets close they will have more excuses of why kids can't go back. "Oh well it's flu season now" or something similar. They will keep pushing it back just like they did in the spring.

And honestly the MD numbers are good. There is absolutely no reason for this. I have no doubt that based on the information they just released the whole year will be digital. It's easier for them then trying to actually make things work for in school learning. They are lazy and simply don't care.

It's disgusting and wrong and I wish there was something that could be done but I don't think there is.
