I would guess that there are and have been thousands of substance abusers and other types of abusers on corporate boards. A lot of highly-functioning people have alcohol and drug abuse problems. Hunter Biden is not special in that regard.

The company that asked Biden to be on the board might have hoped that it would earn them some brownie points from the US but that was their gamble and not Joe Biden's and it was probably a poor decision for Hunter to accept.
