I disagree. Chucks are timeless and ubiquitous, and are basically the signature shoe of California. And according to that Elle article, she's been wearing them since at least 2011.

But not with a suit jacket. Never a good look. She is trying to look young and cool to balance Biden looking like one foot is in the grave.

People on the West Coast, have been wearing jeans, with a blazer and chucks, vans, adidas, pumas for a very long time. It’s actually a staple in my wardrobe for work, all you have to do is just tweak the basics to suit your personal style, and age. I know plenty of women who dress similar in the Seattle area.

I am 47 and to me they look like someone who grew up going to punk shows, and still likes the clothes.

Lol I doubt she has ever attended a punk show in her life. Chucks are mainstream and have been since she was young.

Yep. Fit is important. I never realized HOW important until I began visiting these threads.

The Trump women just can't wrap their minds around fit but they also have ginormous boobs and that makes it hard to find normal clothing that works.

I'm in Kamala Harris's age bracket. When I was in college, I wore adidas sneakers. My best friend work Converse sneakers as she had for years. When I was a kid, my brother and his friends wore Converse sneakers. (I had Jack Purcells instead). My point is that several decades ago, Converse sneakers were pretty ubiquitous. There's a good chance that Harris has been wearing them for decades. Perhaps you don't remember them from their previous moments of popularity.

Side note: We also wore Frye, Cole Haan, Swedish clogs, and Doc Martens back in the day. And some of us think it's really cute that "young and hip people" have discovered them again.
