Should McLean Pre-ECNL players consider Spirit DA?

WS-VA is having an ID session for 2008 - 2005 at 11:45 AM this Saturday at Lake Fairfax.

2008? What time? I only saw up to 2007

You enter your 2008 DOB and select the 2007 rising U13 DA team. If confused, email Tom.

Just to be sure.... I have a 2008 girl and I’m interested in having her look at the 2098 Spirit team. Not the 2007 team. I’ve heard good things about the woman coaching the 2008 group. Will she be there Saturday looking at potential future players?

McLean Pre-ECNL players would be better off staying at McLean.

the other players of the 2098 team haven't been born yet, neither has the coach

Not a coach, not even a McLean parent. But I’ve had experience with both and McLean is top notch.

times have changed. did you read that McLean got the boot from CCL?

^^^That’s a blanket statement that might be true if you look at all teams in McLean ECNL-however, if you break it down by specific teams and years, not so true. 06 McLean is in second to last place for example. From what I’ve heard and observed, 07 McLean Pre-ECNL is pretty strong and if you are an 08 player, your chances of playing up on that team are going to be pretty low. However, it sounds like 08 McLean Green is a pretty strong team too, so your chances of having a good ECNL team will be good. It might be worth staying the course to stick with a strong cohort of players for the long term.

That last pre-ECNL team that stayed (your 06s) has scored 4 goals in 10 games ... but given up 37 goals! That is worse then the last place Hammerheads. Staying the course playing in NCSL another year is what coaches like to say. While the club brass won't let your DD play up next year with the 07s in McLean, a top-5 08 green player is not going to be challenged by teammates or competition so any DA that needs players is worth a look. If your DD is good enough to play up a year, she will be good enough to come back to her "cohort" a year later and rejoin ECNL if she thinks it offers better opportunity then DA.l

Their B teams were not deemed good enough after the club-wide ECNL switch, so they had to find something and NCSL was it. It hits the U11-U12 groups the worst, because those are A teams that don't get division assignments yet.

McLean B teams are still in CCL. Only A teams for U11-U12 got kicked out

I think you are confused by CCL's attempt to make CCL2 sound as good as CCL1, by simply changing league names. If you know anything about CCL, MYS is no longer participating in CCL1 with ANY teams. All their teams play only in CCL2, the lower league.

McLean 06 ECNL team continues to struggle. They lost 5-0 to VDA yesterday and 6-0 against BRYC today. Long gone are the days where McLean could pull the top players to their ECNL program. Their 06s have 4 goals for and 48 goals against in 12 league game this year (fall/spring). Is this a sign of things to come or is it just a tough age group for McLean?
