OMG the stuff that people post on here - so fights only happen at less elite privates! If you've read this thread multiple posts on here from Wilson parents attest that they are not concerned about their kids safety - the concerns expressed on this thread about safety at Wilson, as best as I can tell, are entirely from private school parents who can't seem to drive through Tenleytown without seeing a person of color on a streetcorner and then shatting on themselves in their imported SUV driving their sheltered kids home to Bethesda/Chevy Chase. |
So FRUSTRATING to read all of these unrelated posts to ‘illness at Wilson’.incommentrd earlier as a Wikson parent how infuriating it is to have murky explanations from admin about a seriously scary and unusual call for 6-8
Students to be ambulanced for tainted drugs. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH private v public, are any high schools immune etc. of COURSE no HS is immune to drugs!! However in this case the premier, zero tolerance DC public HS will not provide any facts. Posters who keep saying, gee, why can’t u have that frank chat with yr own kid? Shut UP! We all do, but even our kids have misinformation which is dangerous —‘bad’ Xanax? Is there a ‘good’ Xanax for teens? Clearly this was poison shit drugs sold on campus by a kid and it went bad. Why are you lawyered up parents or admin jumping in with petty assertions we only want to gossip? Puh-LEEZE. I dint give a shit for names, I give a shit we are all on the same page with the FACTS. The drug. Where. When. Why so many kids. Symptoms. Disciplinary action taken. So everyone who wants to keep this in the dark just shut the F up. Those who want some day light, keep on it. I have written DCPS and inquired to Wikson. Everyone tight lipped. Since when? Finally, sorry folks, if this were a black kid with an unloaded gun at entry, it would be big bad news. |
I largely agree with you, but, as a Wilson parent, I think some of the post defending the school are a bit Pollyanna-ish. One poster said something like it's just youthful exuberance on display after school. It is more than that and the school does have some real issues that you wouldn't find at a private or most suburban schools. That doesn't mean those schools don't have their own issues of course, but people can acknowledge problems at Wilson without being racist pearl clutchers. I understand there is an incentive to defend the school when unreasonably attacked, but some of the defenses are almost as liberal with the truth as the attacks themselves. |
Big 3 in DC (or here on DCUM) and if you don't know what a "safety" issue is -- thinking it is fist fighting? You don't read the papers. It rhymes with "text" assault but has less letters in the first word. |
I don't disagree with you at all and I think I made the earlier post you reference to about youthful exuberance. But that is most of what is going on in Tenleytown when school lets out. There of course are some things that cross the line (I called the police about something just two weeks ago) but most of the kids are just letting off steam and being stereotyped on here at least by folks who don't live in the neighborhood and appear to be insecure private school parents driving through. I've said a variation of this in misc threads on here over the years but as someone who lives in the neighborhood I'm far more concerned about me and my kids safety from their exposure to aggressive driving from entitled private school kids racing through the neighborhood - I've had far more close calls with imported SUV's with private school stickers on the back and teenagers behind the wheel. |
they took xanax, didn't realize it was laced |
yeah, not that taking xanax is a good thing, but they overdosed bc it was laced |
