Actually, even with an exceptionally strong magnet like TJ, McLean and Madison in FCPS each had more NMSF this year than BCC, Whitman and Churchill, and McLean had more than Wootton as well. So it seems like an exaggeration to say that Fairfax is putting all its eggs in one basket.

41/100 = 41% at Blair
41/100 = 41% at RMIB

To me, that's the most impressive number! Almost 10% higher than so called #1 school in the country.

^ that's why RM/IB is considered the most rigorous hs program in dc area.

Not all the semifinalists at Blair were in the magnet, although most were.

I don't blame you for not understanding as MCPS as a variety of magnets at different locations focused on different items. It's a complex web that can't be easily compared to the Fairfax model of dropping all the kids in one school. Also, MCPS has NMSF from W schools that are not magnets at all. Yes, by Fairfax putting all the smart kids in one spot you can claim number one, but when it comes to applying to colleges the MCPS model with the kids spread out is better. IMHO

Keep in mind, TJ kids are from all over NOVA, not just Fairfax

Arlington County
Fairfax County (includes City of Fairfax)
Falls Church City
Loudoun County
Prince William County

So you are comparing kids from 5 different districts to one (MCPS)

Actually, kids at Blair only come from the southern half of Montgomery County. It's worse

So we are comparing the top Asian and Jewish kids in MC and VA. Why not compare the Hispanic or African American scores. Who is improving the most for them.

Good point. Only from 1/2 county.

I don't think posters are saying anything about the race. People just having harmless bragging shouting match. Not sure what your point is.

That is why 41 includes CAP students and non-magnet Blair students. What is the NMSF for Blair science magnet only?

Yes.

That maybe but not by % of kids. Not even in DMV area. Looks like RMIB magnet is 1, Blair is 2 (assuming some of the 41 kids are CAP students) and TJ at 3.

TJ is number 1 with 36.2%
Blair science is number 2 with 31%
RM IB number is unknown.
