Oh wait.

Beard or no beard- read the tweets. He's a problem.

He's a problem? Can you explain what you mean by that?

Let's think of it this way...

Would you rather the US reclaim the veteran who's a little loopy and wanders off into dangerous territory *without* his weapons, or the veteran who's a little loopy and wanders around with 3 firearms?

I know who I pick.

The father, like any loving father, wanted his son back. He studied the captors and wanted to connect in some way to get his son. I think I read the father grew that beard to mark the time his son was a POW and and also as a way to try to connect with the Taliban and evoke sympathy to get his son released. He reportedly made videos appealing directly to the Taliban as well.

I will be following this story closely, because I like many of you am concerned about the release of those particular 5 prisoners and about the lives lost trying to save a man who may have deserted his post. Sadly there is probably some classified information we will never know which may help explain Obama's choices.

Posting again to say, I am always a sucker for reading conspiracy theories and one of the theories is that Bergdahl was a spy for the US and his cover had been blown. Now at least that would make more sense to me. Here is the conspiracy theory article:

Honestly, this five prisoner thing just blows my mind. They are five people who just spent over a decade in prison. Five. Can anyone think of five Americans that absolutely critical to our war effort that their capture or release would change history? I can't. Every Al Qaeda or Taliban is a "mastermind", yet we are convinced of the incompetence of everyone who leads us. Five prisoners, get over it.

Our leaders do not go on suicide missions or plan the torture and murder of thousands of innocent people as these “gentlemen” have done.
It is not about having confidence in those that lead us. It is the fact that our enemies use “unconventional” means in order to kill innocent people.

If that were the case, the administration would have shared that with Congress. They had time to bring the parents to Washington. They didn't have time to pick up the phone?

Conservatives = 60's hippies. How long before the conservatives start throwing red paint on returning soldiers and calling them baby killers?

You know nothing about Conservatives, apparently. The 60’s hippies WERE NOT conservative and ARE NOT the Conservative party of today. That would be the liberals. You must be very young.

Leave no man behind! Unless, ... Obama.

That sounds like the kind of stupid bullshit Republicans would do.

The Marine in a Mexico jail is also his fault. If we had machine gun nests across the Mexican border like they have been clamoring for, a fellow soldier would have shot the guys tires out to ensure that he didn't cross the border with guns in his car.

Looks like some Republicans were off the reservation initially:

Bergdahl deserted and renounced his American citizenship. He was no longer am American Soldier.

When you begin to embellish on a story, you have lost the argument.
