The thread for the, "buying under $600,000," crowd.

I've actually been in this house. It's cute. It's been on market for almost a month, so you probably could negotiate on price. It's relatively close to Silver Spring Metro

Cheverly, MD. Amazing, charming houses, great community. I've seen a few houses selling lately. All under $400K. This is one of the coolest houses in the neighborhood. Make sure if you look, you specifically ask for homes ONLY in the Town of Cheverly.

I see a lot of people commuting from West Springfield to DC. Anyone commuting from that area to Rosslyn or elsewhere in N. Arlington? We are buying a place in Kings Park (not Kings Park West), and I'll be commuting to Arlington. Any intel on traffic at different times of the morning and evening? Also, best routes to take? I was thinking Braddock to Ravensworth to Columbia Pike. Or possibly Braddock to Wakefield Chapel to Little River Turnpike then Hummer.

I have a former co-worker who lives on lake ave. - she loves Cheverly as a community, but I will say that she is a bit worried about the schools as her daughter gets older. The convenience to the city is really hard to beat, though, for the price.

I saw that house on Lake Ave. and it is a cool house. But, calling it a 3 bedroom is a real stretch. The "3rd bedroom" is really more like a sunroom (with a tile floor). And the house is tiny. Would be great for a single person or couple, but not a family.

I am moving back to a state I like a little better. My though is that if I have tops this much for a small, uninspiring house, I would prefer to live in an equally expensive city with other attributes which I prefer.

Very nice house in a great, close-knit neighborhood.

There's also a really cute house on Tenbrook in Four Corners/Forest Glen, convenient to FG metro. I'm too lazy to go on Redfin for the link. But perhaps it will help someone out.
