Who's the head of DCPS headquarters? Senior staff is assembled because they are best at implementing headquarters mission. Therefore if our gentrifiers are drinking the kool-aid, then welcome to the pencil pushers party. May I refresh that drink for you? What flavor were you drinking red or blue?

If a black woman can get a majority of her white staff do her beckoning and calling, then I call that the Oprah syndrome at its very best. You go, Kaya!!!!

Yes, because race-based incompetence is to everyone's benefit, right? Wheeeee!! Kaya's black but she's doing Rhee's work so we all win, right??

Does anyone have any aspirin? Because the hangover has already started.

Exacto mundo!!! @00;38, you finally see the big picture, it wasn't that hard, was it? Well, you see what diversity can bring; Asians, Blacks and Whites all working together towards one goal. Hugs and kisses for DCPS, they just make you feel good all over.

From an Afro-centric perspective: What is the ideal mix of (1) black / white (2) middle class / econ-disadvanted?
Anonymous
40% black
25% white
15% hispanic
10% asian
5% clovis / native american
5% polynesian

1% one percent
50% middle class
49% econ-disadvantaged

I'd say that's about right.

If anyone takes a look at the budget, you will painfully see that diversity doesn't guarantee dividends. Next year's budget for the high-school almost promotes an all AA school population of 90% or more is the preferred method in regards to the per pupil student formula.

I just took a look at the budget. First I noticed that Wilson and SWW have the exact same budget allocations of 8k per student. The common denominator I could find for both schools that they are our most diverse. Second, I looked at the schools that have largest allocated funds per students of 13k. The common denominator I could find they are the least diverse.

If the white DCPS senior staff came up with this formula, what were they drinking? If this is what the gentrifiers are looking as the perfect relationship with DCPS's white senior staff having their best interests when it comes to public education. Then DCPS is probably expecting our gentrifiers to sign a pre-nup.

Let's see, if the truly established middle-class who are entitled to a free-education, will truly follow the money. Then expect for the tide to change, it just wouldn't make sense to enroll in a school because of diversity if the funding can't support educational programs.

With the difference being almost 5k I can only imagine what Wilson can't offer to what Roosevelt and Coolidge will do without any worry.

14:05 Thanks for taking a look at the budgets. You've found some interesting info. One thing though that also needs to be factored in is that Wilson is now the biggest HS in the city, with over 1600 kids, so their ppf of $8k is going to allow them to offer a lot more than a school like Roosevelt (646 students) or Coolidge (689 students) even at $13k per kid. I am sure dcps is trying to make up for the high schools with smaller enrollments, since every high school in the country has to offer some kind of bare minimum course selections. And in areas where they don't have a lot of upper income or high performing kids, they are going to need every penny to get their kids a decent education.

Where have you found that info? What's up on the DCPS website (at least where I look under LSAT > Budget) are all last year's numbers (FY12, SY11/12). I know schools have their initial budget allocations but, unlike other years, there is absolutely nothing public about it or any meaningful time foreseen for input. If you have another link please share.

Funny, this is unintelligible nonsense, but I've got the sneaking suspicion that--could I make heads or tails of it--I would be offended.
