Exactly. MD United parents are the victims here. |

They’re happy to not put an * by their championship, however. I wonder why the director changed their mind on the dual forfeit. I imagine Hoco could not stomach not being named as champion and wasn’t going to let it go.
+1 to prior poster that said it’s creepy all the Hoco or pink or flamingo apparel and gifts the team and parents orchestrate to give these girls. Guess in an effort to keep them with Hoco. Slight cult vibes. No one is going to care what they won at age 10 when the good ones are over to M&D and Hero’s (or even, gasp MDU, a top 15 club in nation) in 3 years. It’s going to get real uncomfortable (even ugly) in a few years when the club and coaches try to circle the wagon to keep the girls but the parents are paranoid the good ones are leaving like the Baltimore Colts in the dark of night. Our team (B team) played them last year and there was zero barking. We did see the coach be crazy and the onslaught of fouls, both from start to finish, which stood out then as so bizarre because they were trouncing us and knew we were a B team that wasn’t a challenge. It was very odd. We knew nothing about them then. It was one of our/their first games. We lost 8-2, or something like that. They weren’t that dominant then I guess, because we sucked. Graciousness is 0% of the coach’s makeup, at least last year. |
| I agree the barking has gotten better, but the violence of HOCO has gotten worse. Couldn't agree more that hi, hello, it's 100% a safety issue. Girls lacrosse has so many rules because they don't wear pads. I don't want helmets, but if that's how girls are going to play.... Also, if you're not worried about your 9 year old getting beat up by bullies coached to be bullies (by a bully) who are straight up cheating, shame on you. I didn't witness the MDU vs. HOCO game, but it sounds terrible. But I do feel strongly that had the NGLL stepped in prior, that wouldn't have happened. My daughter played MDU regular season and had no issues with them. HOCO on the other hand, was absolutely awful. |
Hero's not '34 here, and this is correct. She said they both forfeit. I don't know what happened after, but everyone on the other side of that fence was collectively going "wtf?!" |
i hope the reputation of this team follows them into the summer season and every tournament is aware. |
+1 It’s pretty rare for a team to take an L in league playoffs due to outrageous parent behavior so Im sure everyone who’s going to play MD United ‘34s this summer will know how awful their parents are. |
| The constant deflection by HOCO, as seen in previous posts, speaks volumes about the culture surrounding this program. Instead of accountability, there are excuses. Instead of sportsmanship, there is blame-shifting. A complete lack of remorse for their role in this fiasco only further damages the integrity of the program. The real question is: when will accountability and character become a priority? |

Hey Hoco parents-Coming on here to talk trash on the MDU parents doesn't change what happened. Hoco was told they had to forfeit as well. You talked your way back in. Your parents are also a problem. Denying it doesn't mean it's not true. The weekend is over. Stop talking about it and focus on your own team.
Leave MDU alone. This is starting to sound like bullying. Signed, a parent not associated with either organization | V V |
These HoCo girls are 10 year olds you’re talking about here. Stop the bullying. It’s pathetic. |
Are you seriously talking trash about a bunch of 9 year olds in an anonymous forum? Pretty telling that all the negativity I’ve seen on this thread about MD United has been about the parents but others feel free to openly bash the athleticism, motivations and even the ultra pink fashion sense of a group of young kids on the HoCo team. Get a grip. |
Sounds like the real issue people have here is officiating. I have seen wildly inconsistent officiating across the board this year with NGLL in every age group. Sometimes i think the refs don't understand the checking rules between 8th grade and 3rd grade. Anyone who has watched younger sports (or even older kids) knows if the Officiating is not in control, then stuff can escalate, then players feed off their angry parents. The ole "GET CONTROL OF THE GAME REF!!!!" scenario. I watched almost all of the championship games and the officiating was much better on Sunday then it was on Saturday (presuming they got the A team officials) and everything went fine, including the 34 division. The only real issue was the champions shirts said Long Island on em!!!! |
Can this be sent to the HOCO Board of Directors? There is no way they want their programs to be represented by their 34 coaches and parents. Formal complaints to NGLL have been sent. |
Makes sense. The prelim rounds for the youngest teams are going to see the least experienced refs. Given the general shortage of refs, these were probably first year officials who were in over their heads. |
|
I agree that some responsibility falls on the referees needing to control the game. There must have been concern about referring prior to the playoffs especially since NGLL had specifically warned teams not to ride the officials.
I also don’t think posters are attacking 10-year-olds. The concern is with coaching that appears to encourage overly aggressive play, excessive fouling, and intimidation from the sideline. This is not a new issue with HOCO or some of its coaches. The gear comments are strange though. At this point, it’s time for both the leagues and the club to step in regarding HOCO 34 and reinforce the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. |
To be fair to the poster you quoted, one of the HoCo 34 parents said they win because they are so much more athletic and talented than every other team. They are giving a counterpoint to that. It's really no worse than the HoCo parents saying the other teams aren't athletic or talented |
