I quite literally said that I used the wrong word - She didn't shotgun W&M. If you had basic reading comprehension maybe you wouldn't be so confused. UNC OOC was a target, but not one of DD's top choices.

OP’s DD has to be a TJHSST student. This happens to TJ students every year. Especially with so many schools still being test optional.

Visit the schools, get excited, and help her get a good picture of the options in front of her.

I'm not sure why someone said she wouldn't be a good fit for W&M; she sounds like a really great fit, and the Monroe recognition is great as well. If you go to Williamsburg for the DFAS, make sure to stay Saturday night and Sunday morning as well for the Monroe Scholar programming.

Yes, we are OOS, and for that reason I said it was a target. Now people are attacking me and acting as if UNC CH is on par with Harvard. Please. And if this is the best laugh you've had all day then you must lead a pretty sad life.

Thank you for the kind response! I feel for all the kids in my DD's situation - It's very tough, especially seeing how hard she worked for this. We're trying to arrange some visits and get her feeling more positive. Although she's currently leaning towards Pitt (which we haven't yet visited), she was very drawn to W&M's campus life.

Someone mentioned TJ upthead.
Too many highly qualified students from same area and same school. The ones who didn't select TJ and instead attended their local HS ended up with better college admission results. Maybe fewer qualified students at home HS??
