There are services that offer childcare & transportation in the morning if you don’t get into SACC like the daycare vans or the karate vans. people hire babysitters or use a daycare that is on a bus route zoned for their school. There are options beside quitting your job to sit at home until 10 every day. |
+3. Sleeping in each day would be ideal for our family, too. Lots of sports run late. |
It's much harder to find before care than after care. You would know this if you had a child who needed before care, but you don't, so you are just making things up. |
Yeah, you missed that boat, mommy. |
I am pretty sure if the county did a survey, the MAJORITY of ES parents wouldn’t want school to start at 9:50. Will there be outliers? Absolutely! But the same goes for middle school parents and what they want. Based off the work session, I don’t think anything is happening until 26/27 school year. They may try a pilot next year, but that is it. There are a lot of missing data pieces and questions that were brought forth. |
Speaking for ALL kids just makes you look foolish. The only kids you speak for are your own. |
With a $4 billion budget, I'd like them to spend the extra 0.05% of it for option B. |
Wrong. Privilege is being able to outsource care in the first place. |
Different poster. The PP said school within 8-4. You think kids should go earlier or later than that? This whole thread is about appropriate start times. Before 8 is ridiculous. After 4 is also ridiculous. Those ate reasonable hours for all grade levels. |
So, unless parents send kids out to play before school, their only outside time in the winter will be at recess.
Really? As a first grade teacher, I cannot imagine having kids come in at 10. They surely are not seriously considering this. 9 a.m. should be the absolute latest. |
I think the time to “vote” is over and maybe don’t want that anyway as our family would love the latest start they could do- it would work for us. Likely better than to no my have new vote and people just reach out to board reps and the most vocal can win. |
Likely written by a full time stay at home mom--or a "work from home mom" who takes advantage of her employer. |
They want changes to be parallel to the boundary changes which is stupid. So nothing happening until at least 26/27 which sucks for my rising middle schooler ![]() |
You have a chip on your shoulder. Listing options besides SACC makes sense. Likewise, there are different options for aftercare now. |
I guess if I get RIFed I'll start a home based before care? Before care definitely isn't cheap and lots of places have waitlists and writing off additional costs to parents is a bit callous. |
