Very true. ECNL not in trouble, it’s in big trouble.

🤣🤣🤣 just like tariffs will bring prices down.

Focus please.

I don’t suppose the ECNL players know about TAKA, but the platform is next level. MLSNExt teams are required to submit their Veo and Trace game footage to TAKA within 24 hours.

The platform has video of each club’s game, apply analytics, video clips of each player based on 6 categories, and importantly, has the same for every MLSNext team and provides access as part of the subscription ($11/month). You want to scout the competition? The subscription includes access to every other team’s full game as well as offensive and defensive highlights.

College coaches and scouts also have access—I believe 800 or so, give or take.

Top talent has migrated from ECNL to MLSNext since its inception. Innovative platforms like TAKA help, as do strategic deals like the one announced today.

It’s not IF ECNL is lapped, but WHEN.

It’s just an AI platform DD’s ECNL club provides sane service under different name. All ECNL game film is uploaded to HUDL. Yawn…

Nice try.

It’s all speculation right now.
Possibilities:

1 - GA can become the pathway to the pros like MLS Next is to MLS

2 - MLS Next tells clubs with ecnl girls/mls next boys to switch the girls to GA if they want to keep mls next

3 - GA/MLS Next combined showcases where recruiters can watch both in one place.

On any given girls ECNL team, how many families do you think are aiming for the pros vs aiming for college? I'd be shocked if it was more than a fraction of 1% aiming to skip college for pros

If a GA team with a path to pro has 15 of the best players in the state, 1 goes pro….where do you think the others go??? Ding ding ding….college.

It’s not just a pathway to the pros. Think a little

Yes but is the program focused on the pros or college? If not focused on college then those girls go ECNL. College cannot be the afterthought.

So how do you explain mls next? There focus is not college but yet still putting more kids in D1 programs then ECNL.

They have legitimate professional academies and the promise of playing and being exposed to academies for non-academy teams. Can the NWSL even afford academies?

No. Not even close. Most of the NWSL owners are rich; not crazy rich which is what that takes. The revenue is not there. Might it be some day? Sure. But we are talking years.

Your information is outdated. Look up who owns these teams now.

I did. Washington Spirit and KC are typical. These are people with money but not lots of it.

You didn't really but that's fine.

Where is she playing happy and being seen. 99.99999999% of our girls, even the elite of the elite in this area will at best top out at some money for college. For DMV thats about 50 girls a year. Find the right fit for your child and your family

Bahahahaha

I have to agree. That statement is just ridiculous.

Darkhorse is hot garbage. It’s ECNL’s answer to TAKA because the boys side parents demanded something.

The girls side of ECNL doesn’t really want to use analytics because college coaches are dipshits that still largely use the “eye test.” Shoot, I think the girls side only uses the Veo for their highligh / sizzle reals, the boys side does film review. It’s night and day - it shouldn’t be - but girls soccer comes 2nd to boys even at ECNL

Ding ding ding. You just got it. ECNL does what the college coaches want because that is what their base wants. Connect soccer players and college. There is almost no interest in pro, national team, or advancing soccer in the US. Sole mission is to place kids on college teams. That is why anything else will fail.
Idk about no interest in pro but there is almost no market. Only 14 pro teams on the women's side. MLS had 14 in 2008 so hopefully in 10-20 years it could grow into a decent market.

There’s also emerging semipro, similar to the men.

Watch how it plays out. All the good ECNL players will defect to GA in next two years. This also explains why so many top D1 schools came to Norco.

Lots of people complaining about the St Louis event. Maybe lots of coaches, but cancelled games? That's really effective.

Is this the next 300+ thread or is the BY/SY thread still the one?

I'll take Acadamies over pay to play.

Hopefully this is the direction GA is looking to go.

USL's 8 team tournament is a start for a minor league but these things take decades to grow and get established if ever.

I'm not anti-pro, I'm just saying don't count on pro money to trickle down to the amateur ranks for girls any time soon. Unless USSF seriously opens up it's wallet but they had to go hat in hand to be able to pay a NT coach and they have costs in moving to Atlanta so not sure they have the cash.

So after reading the comments on fb and ig here is what I’m seeing.

Comments that are saying this is no different than the alliance they claimed to have in 2020.

Comments from ecnl parents that seem worried that mls/mlsn/ga are coming for ecnl girls.

Comments that are saying that only the 48 clubs with both ga/mls next will benefit from this alliance — putting clubs with ecnl/MLS next in a tough spot.

All in all, it appears that a good bunch of people fear that ecnl is now at some what of a risk, or at least ecnl parents are now a bit worried.

This alliance news has now gotten more attention than when ga received full sponsorship from us soccer.

Imagine mls next making clubs shift from ecnl to ga and imagine ga making clubs with boys ecnl to go mls next.

The only way to counter this is for ECNL to once and for all accept the last 5-10 big clubs from GA. If they don’t do this in 25/26…things can go very very south.
