College and University Discussion
|
If you take it as intended, these are just little data points to consider in the wide context of who these kids are, who your kid is, what sorts of schools are discussed, what sorts of schools you are interested in, etc.
Gotta say the hazing comments are a huge turnoff for my kid. |
Again, it is extremely foolish to give credence to anything some stranger posts on the internet. Indeed, op’s post reads as a complete fabrication to me and I have a college sophomore at one of these schools with friends at many of the others. Do not use it for any purpose other than entertainment. |
Abut I am supposed to listen to what you have to say? You, a complete stranger on the internet? |
Adding, if you want reliable first hand insights, have your kid talk to alumni from their own school. |
At least half the posts are critical of op. |
Much better to talk to current students unless focusing on career outcomes. |
??? The post was there really isn’t hazing. Did I miss something |
that wasn't me. I'm the OP here now. It's not fabrication at all. But of course, consider the source. I really don't have anything to gain here. I thought it was interesting anecdotal info. Yes it's a limited data set with its own biases, but it's not a scientific survey. Yes, I agree 100% you should have your kids talk to kids they know in real life at ANY school they are seriously considering, alumni from their school, do an overnight, go on unigo, the social media sites, etc. If I had more time, I might offer some criticism of our small private school as well, given the difficulty in adjusting to the "real world". But that's not the point of this post. |
OP: A few kids mentioned hazing and I referenced it in the quick summaries (and the differences in hazing between schools - which schools and frats are tougher, and which are more lenient). I do have more intel on that, but don't think this is the place for it. It's also not clear to me how much was "true", urban legend that they'd heard or something in between. And yes some of it was shocking. |
Alumni of their high school, I.e. current students at the college. |
Is it one poster though? Maybe 2? Think Jeff has been slowly deleting a bunch of them. |
I beg to differ, I think it is fiction as I recognize your writing style and you post quite a few questionable points and usually fail to disclose you are not in DMV. Chicago, right? In any case, Jeff is letting this stay up for some reason so just pointing it that other than for entertainment purposes, it is useless |
I am one of them and most of the posts are not mine and in different writing styles, so I would say at least half dozen, maybe more. |
Probably an equal number of people are interested. But they aren’t trying to shut down the thread by insisting they know better. I am pretty sure people understand no one knows you are a dog on the internet. No policing needed. |
Not chicago. And no fiction here for this thread. I disclosed I wasn't in the DMV? Did your kids not have friends? I feel like you've taken this personally. These are kids! What were the questionable points? |
