Do you think DOGE will eliminate remote policy?

Can Trump sign an executive order limiting telework/remote work? Yes, but even that will have to be implemented within certain parameters, will be fought in court etc. no one is going to the office full time for ten hours on Jan 21. Get a grip.

Hopefully by the end of the term this will be a reality though.

Because they hate feds.

I'm a lawyer, they don't pay me enough to work those hours, I would just quit and go to a firm for those hours.

But here's the deal: you don't want people like me to quit. Those of us who have options are also the people who get stuff done efficiently.

Because they are just trying to stir the pot on DCUM.

Its actually pretty funny -- one poster says get a grip nothing will happen and the other says I'm getting fired. Whatever. We'll see what happens when it happens.

Stop with the 10hr day nonsense. It was a single flippant remark Vivek made weeks ago and hasn’t since because I’m sure he was informed that most fed workers are paid hourly - he would essentially be giving all federal employees a raise by instituting a 50 hr workweek. There is no way this will be done on January 21, and if it is a goal of DOGE to do this, it would require a Herculean effort to change labor laws/regulations/tradition via lawsuits compared to revoking telework via an executive order.

Did he mean 5 x 10 hour days (50 hr week)

Or 4 x 10 hours ( 40hr week) ?

The later is common for shift workers. The nurses in my family do it. They love the extra day off and those 2 extra hours a day fly by and is totally worth it for them.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get some directive in the early days (provided any of the new politicals have passed background checks and are actually in the building) to "increase office time to pre-covid levels, to the extent possible with office space/remote work agreements/etc". Then Trump can declare victory and every office can interpret that however they want.

THIS. That last sentence is so true.

If you are a fed lawyer who only works 40 hours a week, your options in private practice likely aren't as plentiful as you think they are.

It's amazing how every single government lawyer is convinced that they can leave the government and find a higher paying job in the private sector - they are very much in demand, you see and only in the government because of the mission/benefits/family friendly schedule/hours/WTH/etc. And sure, some of you will be rock stars. But more of you will crash and burn, if you can get a job at all.

+1. I’m strongly considering changing to 4/10 the next time it becomes available (in our agency every 6 months, so sometime in January to sign up, and start first pay period in March).
