Seriously, I have another middle school daughter. Explain why other places are worth the pain.

There really is none. It’s the decision everyone has to make. Do you go to Capital or do you spend half your life on the beltway driving to Baltimore based clubs. This assumes your daughter can play for one of the top Baltimore clubs.

Exactly. The real issue is that the overall talent level in northern Virginia isn't close to the talent in Maryland, Long Island, Philly, Upstate NY, Jersey, Connecticut or even Boston. It is more at the level of SoCal, NorCal, Denver, or even South Florida.

If you want to blame something, blame the lack of good rec programs, the huge prevalence of travel soccer, or poor skill development in early club before you blame Capital.

According to Club rankings there are 284 club teams in the 2027 class. Roughly 6,248 girls playing travel lacrosse. How many of these will actually be recruited let alone play in college? If your girls is on a top 20 team and eventually makes it to D1 you have won. Why gripe about rankings?? Odds are not in your favor in the first place.

I certainly wouldn't be counting on having the '25 and '26's options. But unless you love high traffic driving, for now it's a crapshoot whether a local option will work as well or better in a given class.
You may know more in a year or 2.

I guess we are participating in an experiment then. Good news is lots of coaches on sidelines at Live Love Lax. Expect the same this weekend.

Or you could blame the clubs for decimating rec programs. Capital of course starts in high school, so that's not on them. Then again, I don't see anyone blaming Capital.

Big problem is a shortage of quality coaches at all levels. NoVA has never been a hotbed so there are even fewer in the area. If you are lucky enough to find one, the entitled lacrosse parents usually run them out of town if little Piper doesn’t start or get the ball on every play.

I truly believe if Capital started in 7th grade, their high school teams would be much better. The BLC girls come in with great stick skills and lax IQ. The girls from Stars and Pride, even those were are talented players, were behind and too much time had to be spent teaching them basics. MD clubs don't have that problem.

The dad-coached BLC kids? Give me a break! Overall there is a lack of skill development in DC.

This is a horrible take.

100% on the lack of skills development. That includes Capital’s program too.

Hey all you anonymous coaching experts.

Pickup a clipboard and volunteer at a ā€œdecimated rec programā€ or shut the f up.

Could it be that you all suck as parents and don’t raise kids that take accountability for their lack of ā€œskills developmentā€.

ā€œIt’s the clubs, it’s the rec program, it the high school, it’s the coaches, it the refs it’s the kidsā€ā€¦. wrong at the end of the day you are the common denominator, and the reason this all sucks is because you suck!

This was a funny take, and could only even be offered by a '27 parent, when they had a team that included a number of girls from NoVA. No BLC's on the 2028 team, so kind of hard to test your theory there.
