Unlikely a paid shill, though it does read like that. Connecting the dots between posts here and elsewhere, I’m pretty sure it’s a young alum for whom Bucknell wasn’t even a first choice. Once committed, though, they set out to aggressively shift the narrative, even if it meant bending the truth. If I’m wrong, then there are two of them using the same language and tactics. For the record I think Bucknell is a fine school. It wouldn’t interest my own kid, mostly because they are drawn to a very different vibe. But I have nothing against Bucknell, and have known some kids (athletic, practical, motivated enough) who attended and had good experiences. Agree wholeheartedly, though, that this poster is doing more harm than good to the school’s reputation. There are Bucknell parents on this board who are quite reasoned and thoughtful, and I’d much rather hear from them. |
Warren Wilson is a very niche school. I went to a hippie college, and we considered WWC to be militant hippies. It's a place that appeals to a very select group. |
Way better? It’s not anywhere close to the same league as any of the schools mentioned. I don’t want to insult other schools by comparing them to Bucknell, but anyone interested should look at admit rates, yield rates and grad outcomes to see just how poorly (in comparison) Bucknell does. These are objective measures, not a bunch of unsubstantiated crap from the Bucknell booster. |
According to Niche, Warren Wilson graduates earn an average of $25k six years after graduation. That's concerning. It also earns a C- overall. |
Yeah, it's not a place you go to if you're concerned about making money or working in a field DCUM would consider acceptable. WWC grads tend to either have a nice trust fund so they can live out their barefoot hippie dreams or they just completely reject capitalism and move to Celo to live in the communal settlement. it's an.....interesting....place. |
