Michigan gov Gretchen Whitmer mocks the reception of the Eucharist, with a Dorito

RealClearPolitics says this was a campaign video for Harris. Ouch. With friends like that, ...

The voters already in the bag are mildly amused. The voters she absolutely needs to win over are deeply offended. They can't even hide their contempt anymore for religious people and Catholicism gets the brunt of it. And besides being tasteless it is extremely undignified to playback as an Insta thot when she is a sitting governor in her 50s. Grow up already.

Again,

As a Christian, I am far more offended by Trump supporters who call themselves Christian, but who want to gut the social safety nets for the elderly and disabled.

As a Christian, I am far more offended by Trump supporters who call themselves Christian, but who refer to any plan to ensure that we can care of the sick and injured and not have them go deeply into debt as "communist."

As a Christian, I am far more offended by Trump supporters who call themselves Christian, but who want to cut food stamps for hungry families barely able to make ends meet.

As a Christian, I am far more offended by Trump supporters who call themselves Christian, but who want to demonize and turn away refugees and asylum seekers.

You hold values that go against every grain of core Christian teaching.

I'm sick and tired of the "deep offense" coming from phony Christians. I suggest they re-acquaint themselves with the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and what Christ actually said and taught.

Trump-voting Christians make a far greater mockery of Christianity than Whitmer does.

A campaign video is meant to reach out and appeal to voters, not alienate them.

You're lumping all people who are offended as Trump supporters and phony Christians who aren't acquainted with those New Testament books of the Bible. You need to do some deep reflection of your own biases and shortcomings.

Everyone who is physically able to kneels at my (not Catholic) church, but that still looked nothing like anyone receiving the Eucharist to me.

I don't get what's funny about it, but that's TikTok.

Not at all. You know full well the people feigning offense at this were never anything other than committed Trump voters.

And, you've failed to address the fact that the real mockery of Christianity is voting Trump.

Very safe bet Whitmer’s tone def spokeswoman and her colleagues are in this thread.

Whitmer spokeswoman Helen Hare just mocked anyone outraged and actually considers it a win that this is going viral. Helen compares 53 year old Whitmer’s social media content to 22 year old Billie Eilish and Kylie Kardashian.

Real genius spin.

Helen is partner at the women-owned Watershed Strategy, their office is allegedly in Dupont Circle. Helen is a 37-ish year old alum of Oberlin.

Thank you for this background info. It explains the weirdness and lack of sensitivity for others.

For sure. They sound desperate, and it’s transparent that they know this is a serious misstep.

Honestly even if it’s not offensive, it is unquestionably weird and freaky behavior. Gross, even.

…we totally weren’t denigrating Christians who believe Holy Communion, the Eucharist or the Sacrament is sacred... with a 37 year old dressed like Catholic school girl, wearing a polo under a sweater with bows in her hair, on her knees, and a chip place on her tongue by the female priest, I mean governor, like some demonic dominatrix ritual.

Getting back to their flocks of advisors that must have seen this before it was posted. Are they so anti-Catholic that they don't have one Catholic advisor on their team who could have spotted the disturbing optics?

You don't have to be outraged to see what a bad political move this was.

The thing is, it’s weird and disgusting as it is. Like it doesn’t even have to be mocking Catholics, it’s gross behavior from a sitting governor. And she doesn’t even seem to realize how creepy that video is!

Because the progressive truly believe that they are the majority instead of a small group of loud, obnoxious whiners.
