Where are you getting this from? In my case it’s not about not «bending to my every whim». In fact, it’s the first time I’ve ever had an incident with any principal and I have four kids. But Prall is a horrible communicator and has severely mishandled at least two cases of bullying that I’m aware of. Zero transparency and has outright lied to parents.

Sounds like you never met Carrie.

I did, I had no issues with her.

Then it's just ironic because you described her to a tee. PP is probably right.

Well, your conclusion makes no sense then, if you’ve had the same issues with Carrie why are you dismissing that the same can be true with Prall?

Never change, Lafayette parents.

What’s it to you? Engaging when there are issues is a good thing. If you’re okay with non-transparent and poor leadership in your kids’ school, by all means.

What I'm not okay with is Lafayette parents who think the entire school -- the largest DCPS elementary school in the city -- should cater to the specific needs of their child, even if their child's needs are not at all out of the ordinary. To get their way, they try to bully the principal and the school administration. Seriously, your kid is not that special.

There are wayyyy too many Lafayette parents like this. Such an ugly parent community.

Sure agree it shouldn’t cater to such snowflake needs but that isn’t what this is about, it’s about a principal who is completely incapable at handling the simplest management tasks, is extremely risk averse, ignores bullying, lies to kids and parents. Two things can be true at the same time.

Do you have any specifics? Like what does “extremely risk averse” mean to you?

If her complete inability to handle recess is any indication, I’m not surprised there are other issues. While Murch, Janney, Key and other schools in the area were able to do outdoor recess when it was misty (not event rain!!) Lafayette had an absolutely chaotic approach with up to 60 kids crammed into one classroom and refused to go outside. Teachers begged parents to intervene. This was the principal’s response to a parent who complained:

« For example, today we tried to have students outside but within the first 5 minutes there were multiple incidents where students slipped and went to the nurse crying as a result of the injuries sustained.»

I personally find this ridiculous and hard to believe that students were dropping like flies in 5 minutes while other schools had outdoor recess no problem. She has now received multiple complaints and a letter signed by more than 200 families so hopefully she’ll change.

I also know of a horrible bullying incident that I was shocked to hear how was handled - my child was not involved so it’s not my place to share details, but I’ve spoken to families on both sides, and when the families of both the alleged bullies and the victims are equally upset with how it’s handled and claim to have been lied to, my conclusion is there is very likely an issue…

She is not well liked at all.

I'm not. I think a lot of these issues are the fault of Central Office which seems to incentivize them.
