Is she going to run as an Independent?

She should never have been endorsed the first time. She brought out her base and the young kids. FCDC should never have allowed minors to vote.

She's getting involved with an education-related non-profit, but not seeking re-election to the School Board.

So Frisch and Sizemore (but in Braddock district and not at-large) are running for re-election and that’s it? Everyone else is trying to get elected to higher office or moving on entirely? Did I miss anyone?

By "power brokers" do you mean voters? Because unlike the Republicans, Fairfax Dems are letting anyone vote in the endorsmeent.

I meant the people who devote a lot of time to FCDC matters, and then their proxies like "Blue Virginia" - all of whom were quick to devote attention to and sing the praises of other candidates like Moon, McDaniel, and Munir seeking FCDC endorsements for at-large positions (which was a way to telegraph to Omeish that they weren't so crazy about her seeking re-election).

Meren (Hunter Mill) and Anderson (Mason) are also seeking re-election.

Why doesn’t McElveen run for the seat Tholen is vacating if he lives in the Dranesville district? Who is running for that seat?

Good point since he is running at-large. His re-election website is slick and his platform looks fine but it doesn’t go over any specifics. Still he should easily cruise to reelection victory. The Washington Post and other local media wrote positively about his tenure on the board. He may annoy some people, but I don’t think that’s enough to hurt his chances. And now that his a family man, he can better relate to parents with young kids, the future of FCPS.

They need to go, as well.

Very little about academics.

Remember, McElveen aspires to a political career and ran for Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. He's putting his toe back in the water here.

He's more of the same.

Robyn Lady. Lives in Herndon, but worked in student services at Chantilly for many years.

I'm surprised that Ryan McElveen isn't running for John Foust's soon-to-be-vacant seat on the Board of Supervisors, but maybe he thought Jimmy Bierman had too much of a head start. It would be a higher profile (and higher paid) position.

I would take Moon and McElveen any day of the week over Omeish and Keys Gamarra. It may not be the upgrade you want (and fine w/me if Saundra Davis gets the third seat), but it's an upgrade.

From McElveen's twitter feed. Huge proponent of closures.

One year ago today, our community made its voices heard, successfully persuading officials to shut down schools after they initially refused, undoubtedly saving lives in the process.

Never doubt that your voice--no matter how small--can make a difference in the lives of others.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and School Board are putting our community in grave danger by continuing to claim that our population is at low-risk for coronavirus. They are encouraging a false sense of complacency, ignoring science and insulting our intelligence. 1/3

That may be true but Keys Gamarra and Omeish are thankfully not running.
There are 10 candidates seeking the at large seat and I am sure many if not all are better than McElveen (who wanted higher office).

And, likely still does.

Sorry. But, his big push last time was keeping kids informed about snow days. They are grown now and will likely vote for him.

Just read Omeish's statement on her twitter feed. Three pages of her rambling rhetoric.

At this point our likely at large members are moon, mcelveen, and mcdaniel or davis.
