The scariest stat for me is 42% believes that god intervenes, which goes up to a whopping 72% for weekly churchgoers.

I was baptized, but didn't really believe then. My mom has since left the church, since her religious family has no tolerance.

Seriously, you have to have gelatin for brains if you believe this. I really enjoy life, but you have to objectively recognized that if this world and the people in it were designed then the designer is a real idiot. I mean, he could have made a world where the morning air smells like cotton candy (or whatever everyone's favorite smell is), he could have made our skulls out of titanium or given us a backup system for our heart. Just even the fact that we have to eat and poop is probably the dumbest "design" anyone has ever heard of. Now say he intervenes. In what? The school shootings? The destruction of nature? Kids dying of cancer? I'm not sure his interventions could get any less useful. No no, I remember now, he intervened in Dolores' job interview for her new secretary position at ABC company. Yep, that's the ticket. Intervention in all the important stuff. You go Dolores

Statements like this can really make religious people angry. They can also help people wake up and see that religion doesn't make much sense.

Statements like this can really make religious people ignore you and move on, after they read the first sentence and realize it’s just another long atheist rant.

Statements like this, if they have any effect, make people dig in. But keep deluding yourself that all the time you spend here isn’t completely wasted.

Excellent words of wisdom for any religious poster who thinks they're keeping people in the faith.

Actually, a lot of people are suggestible. Otherwise there would not be so many people becoming non-religious after having been raised to believe in a religion.

I'm not sure that's true. Some people aren't sure but when asked by a pollster they will say yes to the question "do you believe in God?" But really they don't care much one way or the other.
