Everyone has them -- little things that are wrong with your house that you delay fixing but know you would have to confront when it came time to sell. So, what are yours?
Mine: A couple of stains and cracks in the plaster on the ceiling, and some seriously messed up trim in one of the bathrooms. Also, the thresholds between rooms need to be replaced. |
| DH is the biggest defect in our house. Wish I could include him in the sale. |
| Two story family room. I HATE IT!!! |
| Roofing & siding, windows, hardwood floors needed redone, many layers of wall paper and paint in every room, kitchen (full gut), bathroom (only have one so we need a 2nd before we do the 1st) and the entire basement. Not to mention, we need to redo the insulation in the attic. Oh, and the shed... its got to go too. Pretty much no part of the house can remain untouched. Uggg...oh and the size. We didn't realize how small small was till we have lived here with a few kids. |
Ditto to this except we do have a new roof and a new shed, and we have no wallpaper. |
|
We need to gut one of the bathrooms and redo it. That's on the docket for this spring.
In the kitchen, I'd love to replace the ugly counters and stove, but they're perfectly functional, so that will wait. Ditto the ugly stair railings. At some point very soon, we'll have to tear down the old, ugly deck and replace it, and the roof will probably need replacing within the next decade. For purely cosmetic things, I need to paint the family room, my study, and my husband's study, and I'd like to put crown molding in. The painting I'll probably do this spring. We'll see about the molding. Finally, we need to improve the insulation in the attic and around windows/doors. |

My bedroom window leaks and drips onto my head every time it rains. It's like Chinese water torture...
I am going to switch sides with DH, then I bet it will get fixed quicker |
| Termite damage that need repairing/replacing wood in multiple locations. |
what's wrong with this |
|
Kitchen and two full baths that need remodeling, and a powder room with foil wallpaper that I'd also like to remodel. Also, 35 year old windows in terrible shape.
|
| Ugly tiny kitchen. Baths from the 1950s with PINK tiles. Cracks in ceiling drywall where dumb contractors insulating the attic stepped between the joists. Cold former-garage converted room that needs everything. A messed-up yard with a swimming pool that is currently a pit where tree branches fall and squirrels raise future generations (will need to be filled in the spring). |
Horrible carpet. I have 4 kids and a husband who REFUSES to take his shoes off in the house.
Our carpet is truly vile/spotted dirty. I want to get hardwood to replace most of it. Just recently I've noticed a space forming between the (corian) counter and small piece of backsplash (also corian--not a full wall, just about 4 inches) behind our kitchen sink. I'm sure it's because Dh washes his hands/dishes/etc. like he's taking a shower there...seriously, every time he uses that sink there is a flood of water everywhere, and now there is some water damage.

| 17:33, have you heard of caulk? |
This is such an easy fix - you are lucky. The ceiling should run you a few hundred bucks, and the trim is not a big job either. I'm curious - what is holding you back? |
Honestly? Inertia! Sigh. We're losers, I know. |
