| For science homework for tomorrow, my kid needs to find two brands of food items that have one of the following ingredients: carageenan, algae, alginate (two each so a total of six). I cook almost entirely from scratch and we use a ton of organic and have virtually no processed anything in the house and I can't find anything on our shelves. I can't find anything on the web either. Even the shampoo doesn't have any of these. Can anyone help? |
| googling the ingredient and products produces lists of the them. |
|
Ice cream/yogurt/cottage cheese and soy milk
Try one of those items? (according to a google search) |
|
marshmallow fluff
pancake syrup |
| Icecream has ingredients 1 and 3 |
and it's caRRagenan
|
| Yogurt and Chocolate milk also have it. |
|
What a sad reflection of the state of the American diet...
I cook everything from scratch as well and would be hard pressed, as we don't really have processed foods in the house, I just started making even my own yogurt. |
|
Tom's toothpaste and deodorant have it...
OP have you googled it????????? |
|
Or you could google the homework assignment to see where she came up with this.
http://seawifs.gsfc.nasa.gov/OCEAN_PLANET/HTML/education_lesson1.html BTW algae is organic. It's the ultimate organic. |
| Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownie Mix and Similac Advance both contain carrageenan |
| Carrageenan is also a natural ingredient. It comes from seaweed. In grammar school we made pudding by cooking irish moss seaweed in milk-I refused to eat it. |
La-Di-Da. Pat yourself on the back and be thankful you are so much better than the rest of us poor American's. |
| Everything is natural....at some point in time. |
| Arsenic is natural. |
