| I've emailed the owners of the shop two weeks ago but have not heard back yet. Granted it could be the holiday break but what to do if they still don't respond after this week? This has dragged on for over six months now and I finally gave up hope on him returning the money on his own. He's clearly violating the contract by withholding my money, so I thought seeking help from his boss might be enough. But now I'm not so sure. WWYD? Tks! |

There is not enough info for anyone to help. Why and what is he/she withholding? Knowing the circumstances will help.
Better business bureau...maybe? |

I agree with PP. I need to know more, before I can offer advice.
Signed-former realtor |
| We had some ethical issues with an agent at the Arlington Re/Max office as well -- but she was a woman, not a man. I wonder what's going on in that office? |
| Realtor scum bags use the Internet realtors like reefing or I agent next time. |
| I'd give them all day Tuesday to respond, since it could be that they're on vacation, then a follow-up call on Wednesday. If there's no response by COB Wednesday, contact the national Re Max office. |

Thanks PPs.
He's the manager of a rental property. Our lease ended in mid-May but he didn't return our security deposit until Sept after repeated requests from me, and it was only part of it. It's a standard lease which allows 30 days for the landlord to provide repair estimate which he never did. And every time I asked him about it he gave a different excuse of not returning the remainder of it. In the beginning I thought he was just too busy or didn't want to be bothered, but after six months of trying I'm convinced he's just never going to return the rest of my money. |

I am 14:05. I would write a complaint to the licensing board. This link should help.

Sounds more like a landlord-tenant issue. I would check out VA landlord-tenant resources, starting here

yes it is. i understand Re/Max's role was limited to property listing but not management. but i'm also desperate to get any help. i was hoping i could at least get his boss to advise him of his professionalism or lack there of. |
I don't understand. Why would ReMax have the security deposit if they did not manage the property? Are you saying someone who worked there rented to you and now has your security deposit? If that's the case I don't think it's appropriate to go to his boss. |
yes, that is the case. but why is it not appropriate to go to his boss? he lists with ReMax and his professionalism reflect badly on this ReMax office, no? |
No, this is a person who is holding two jobs: one as a realtor for ReMax and one as a rental property manager. Complaining to his ReMax boss is like a person who has a day job and a night job and you have a problem with his performing in his night job, but complain to his day job manager. If he works for a rental agency, then you need to complain to that agency. If he manages rental properties independently, then you need to report him the link given by another PP. His job with ReMax is not related to his work as a property manager. |
|
Wait, is Re/Max managing the property and he's the assigned manager?
Or he is managing the property as a side job? If it's the first, then yes, go to his superiors at Re/Max. If it's the second, leave Re/Max out of it. |
| the Arl ReMax office did contact me just now. so props to them. |
