Another vent about rude neighbors

Anonymous
Last night, my neighbors allowed their elementary school age kids to play soccer in the street-- very loudly-- at 1 a.m. after the new year. They were really loud (as kids can be) and the parents just milled around and took pictures. Why are people so rude and inconsiderate? This is upper NW DC. I wanted to go outside and say something but DH talked me out of it.

Perhaps it was part of their New Year's Eve/New Year's Day celebration.

If this is the only time it's happened, chill out. Really. This is one night of the year you can expect loud noise because people are partying. At least all you had to hear was soccer.

Yes, I am chill about it now, but I still think it's incredibly rude and inconsiderate. This is a residential neighborhood, so not Adams Morgan etc. where we hear loud party-goers often.

Agree with pp. Do you have a baby or something OP? I can understand you being annoyed if you have a baby, but still... that is just one of those times you just have to suck it up and realize the world does not revolve around you and your family. It was New Year's Eve and it is ok for people (even kids) to go out and celebrate. They were just playing soccer...how long did it last - 90 minutes? I doubt.

We had people shooting very loud fireworks off in our neighborhood in Arlington until 1:30am. Yes, it's an only once a year event, but it doesn't make it any less annoying when you're trying to keep young children asleep.

OP, you sound like an ass. Move to the exurbs where you won't hear anything except the sound of your sad little friendless, lifeless soul, screaming.

It was NY Eve, so I would give them a pass on this. If it continues to happen, that's when you should get your panties in a bunch.

Really, you two need to get over it and calm down for the sake of your own health.

It's a once a year thing and it's to be expected. I understand that the noise interrupts your children's sleep, but that's life. I am also a cranky old lady who doesn't like loud noise, but I understand that on New Year's Eve there will be noise and there's no need to get bothered by it.

You sound like a miserable old fart, OP. Sounds like your neighbors were having fun playing soccer on NYE.

ahh, upper NW DC....where OP is the only person who matters and everyone should bow to her wishes. Maybe she is the crazy Janney school drop-off beotch too!

I am the OP. Yes we have a baby and no I don't think the world revolves around me. I'm curious why the conclusion from my vent is that I think the world revolves around me, rather than my neighbors, who allowed their kids to make a huge amount a noise at 1 in the morning and not thinking of others.

OP - do you complain about the fireworks on the 4th of July?

Soccer? Seriously?

In DC people shoot handguns in the air at midnight. We know enough to go inside for the ball drop.

OP lives in DC. Just not in your neighborhood. She should give thanks that it's only soccer playing.

OP, you are one old grumpy fart. I bet you so badly wanted to call the cops on them.
