Another vent about rude neighbors

OP, I think you're being unreasonable. It was NYE. If this was an everyday thing, you have a right to be annoyed. But, this was kids playing soccer. I think you have to just let it go.

Or, move out to the country.

Yes, it does seem like you think the world revolves around you.

Well, OP, I think you've discovered that your neighbors read DCUM.

Because it was NEW YEAR'S EVE! People go out to celebrate, they make noise, etc. It is fun, it is once a year, it is expected. Your baby can lose one night of sleep (or one night or poor sleep) because of a social tradition. NOW, if that was done in a regular night of the year, yes, I would think they were on the wrong.

Nope, we went to a party in the exurbs. Screaming kids, and fireworks both - we weren't the only party on te street. We stood outside and waited for the clouds to clear so we could star watch. So the exurbs won't solve OP's problem.

Just get over it, and drink the rest of your champagne. Grab the baby monitor and go out and laugh at the soccer game.

Lighten up OP. It's NYE. Not like they do this on random Saturday nights, correct?

I'm a light sleeper so something like this would bother me too. I can't wear ear plugs and white noise won't block it out. Part of me gets that it's New Years, part of me would be pissed.

I'm with you, OP. We had neighbors who made SO MUCH NOISE, on purpose, outside at midnight, fireworks and horns, for at least 10-15 min. Thankfully, our kids didn't wake up. And we are in the suburbs in MD.

Anonymous wrote:We had people shooting very loud fireworks off in our neighborhood in Arlington until 1:30am. Yes, it's an only once a year event, but it doesn't make it any less annoying when you're trying to keep young children asleep.

Really, you two need to get over it and calm down for the sake of your own health.

It's a once a year thing and it's to be expected. I understand that the noise interrupts your children's sleep, but that's life. I am also a cranky old lady who doesn't like loud noise, but I understand that on New Year's Eve there will be noise and there's no need to get bothered by it.

I completely agree with this post. Get over it. Elementary kids playing soccer is not exactly the worst thing in the world. It was NYE.

Signed,
Another Crankypants old lady who HATES loud noise.

OP is a nightmare! Wow. I heard fireworks, and my thought was - what fun! So I woke my 4 yo up to celebrate.

OP, it's called fun, you should try it some time. It might make that stick in your behind a little less uncomfortable.

OMG! A whole 10 - 15 minutes! That's horrible.

Once your kid is school age you will get why everyone was able to reach that conclusion so easily.

Op, I will gladly trade you my inconsiderate neighbors who are regularly convinced (for no reason) that the world revolves around them. They are a nightmare to the majority of the neighborhood and are tight with each other. Go figure. The majority used to be the minority and absolutely has revenge on the brain! Can't wait to see it when they least expect it

I would let this one slide. I have seen much worse!

Nope, she loves the chaos of New Year's soccer games!
