Need a no-brainer dessert for a New Year's Day brunch

Anonymous
We need a dessert for new year's day brunch. We have dieters, very picky eaters, and decadent eaters. I'm not the best cook. Can anyone recommend any desserts that I could either buy or easily make? Or ways to jazz up store-bought cakes?

Thanks!

fruit salad--bring honey and greek yogurt on the side.

Who does not love an ice cream sundae?! Set up an ice cream bar for everyone to make their own sundae (ice cream, sprinkles, good fudge sauce, nuts, whipped cream, candies, YUM!)

Buy an angel food cake (fat free, low calorie for a cake but still tasty). Cut up some fresh strawberries for topping, make sure to taste them first, if they aren't sweet enough, toss with some sugar and let them sit out for a bit before serving. For the decadent eaters, have whipped cream -- great if you can make it yourself, otherwise, I'm sure no one will complain about canned whipped cream.

Costco has some redonk mini red velvet cupcakes. They are up there with the best thing I've eaten in my life.

Also love Pioneer Woman's "Apple Dumplings". Easy and delish (and fattening)

I like the fruit salad idea. Light and healthy after all the heavy, fatty holiday food.

Me too. I was actually going to suggest fresh strawberries and other fruit that you could dip into yogurt dip. Just put on a plate and you're done.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

If you do the fruit salad/fresh strawberries, PLEASE, bring some whip cream along with the Greek yogurt - so people can choose.

I am making this for tonight, but you can use anytime - it VERY easy, however, it is not light.

2 cans of condensed milk (you can use fat free one if you please)
1 can of milk (use one of the empty cans of condensed milk to measure)
6 egg yolks
1 tbs of butter
1tbsp of vanilla (if you want - I Didn't)
10 tbs of Nesquik (I used the low sugar version)

Throw it all in the blender, then in a pan and "bake" it for about 1 hour to 80 min. on 350F. Put it over a pan with water in the oven to not burn.

DELICIOUS!

PS.: if you want, you can use the left over egg white to make meringues (I will!)

I hate jello... you can jazz it up by mixing strawberry jello with 1 can of condensed milk and 8 oz of coconut milk - not the milk for drinking, but the one for cooking. Take it to the fridge like you do with jello - VERY YUMM!

You can NOT serve anything involving jello at a brunch in this area. My suggestion would be to make a beautiful ice cream bombe which looks very impressive but is very simple to make and involves freezing in layers but no cooking at all
