We have friends visiting us from NYC this weekend. Both of us have 2 year olds.
Looking for somewhere to go out for a nice New Year's brunch. We will probably also go out for dinner on New year's eve at around 5:30pm. We are open to both DC and Northern Virginia locations. |
Mango Mikes in Alex is good for kids. The ambiance is friendly, not stuffy. A bit kitstchy. |
|
Paradiso.
The kids have their own seating section enclosed with glass so you can still see them, but not sitting with you. |
| Can't imagine two year olds sitting alone! Maggiano's is kid-friendly but pleasant for adults. Food comes out quickly and restaurant is bustling enough to cover a reasonable amount of kid noise. |
| Eventide. Lebanese taverna. |
| Founding Farmers? Matchbox? (Both for brunch or dinner.) Also, Serendipity for brunch. And Au Pain Quotidien for brunch. All in DC. |
| We love Uncle Julio's in Ballston, Los Tios in Del Rey, MeJana in Courthouse, Matchbox in Chinatown... |
| Cactus Cantina, Cafe Deluxe, and 2 Amy's in DC. |
| Clyde's (Gallery Place) is great for brunch, is right at the metro but also has a parking lot in the building (and validates), and takes reservations. |
| We really like Matchbox. Plus they do that peanut butter/fruit/cheese/celery plate on the Kids Menu. |
| The Majestic in Old Town Alexandria is totally kid friendly while still maintaining a nice atmosphere and sophisticated yet fun food. The last time we were there at lunch time on a weekend with our toddler there were tons of families and just the right noise level to cover up kid noise. |
| Mango Mikes is an excellent choice. They even have kids toys/prizes and live music. |
| Jaleo (downtown) is kid friendly and the food is great. Zaytinya too. |
|
We like Harry's Tap Room for an early dinner with kids. They have an extensive kids menu, and bring out food fast.
We also like Argia's in Falls Church-- kids eat free between 5-6-- but you might want to call and confirm this is still true on NYE. I don't find Lebanese Taverna to be particularly kid friendly with 2year olds. The tables are super close together and they just scoot up a highchair to the small table so that the table is crowded and the toddler is in the way. We do better in the summer here when we can eat outside. (I'm thinking of the Westover location- it's possible others are set up better for kids). |
| I haven't been there for brunch, but have really enjoyed Firefly in Dupont with kids. They have adorable tiny kid's meals and the ambiance and food are quite lovely. |
