I also think a lot of Crossfield people would like to go there, but you have people like the speakers the other night that make it about their own opinions. Using the pandemic as an excuse and construction at Crossfield as a reason to stay at Oakton? When the distance to Oakton is at least twice as long and very, very difficult. 66 or windy roads.

Could have gone the magnet route and it would have filled up with all the non TJ selected but that will never happen now.

And the schools in the area would still be overcrowded.

You would have fewer upset people though.

That is not the purpose of schools. The purpose is to provide the best education possible in the best circumstances possible. Some people don't want kids on long, long bus rides or in schools that are bursting at the seams. And, I don't see how either of those factors enhances the education of the students.

More time to do homework on the bus and pushes back evening classes/sports/activities?

I think the few Floris SLHS families that want to stay is because of the theatre program. Everyone else wants to move with the rest of Floris. Western is half the distance than SLHS.

In what athletic conference will the new high school be placed?

I think it depends on size?

I remember way back when Potomac Falls HS opened in Loudoun County (1997) they played my very small single "A" high school in sports that year because they were just getting their program off the ground. I'm guessing they didn't have any/many juniors and seniors on the team like our new school. Now Potomac Falls is division 6, the largest in VA.

Potomac Falls is VHSL Class 5, not 6. Independence is the only Loudoun high school in Class 6; the rest are either Class 4 or Class 5.

There is now a Scenario E posted online and a comment feature for Scenarios A/B/C/D/E like there was for the main boundary study: https://www.fcpswesternboundary.org/?fbclid=IwY2xjawOltoNleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEefSkcAcBoQDm2EZRuQII6BZ-TOfs14Y0gFn0EvEp4pO2erlkNQbagQw5wcxc_aem_ye-qDiLumdSuNA4RSBBlwQ

Whoa Option E pulls a lot more Chantilly people into Western, even some that go Navy/Franklin/Chantilly (I think). I wonder if they are aware after not being part of Options A-D. Crossfield moms about to throw Lees Corner under the bus!

Option E puts Westfield at 61% capacity. Maybe the Centreville folks would rather move to Chantilly than Westfield, but it’s nothing short of offensive to float this option.

It feels like an option put out there purely to appease Meren and Crossfield/Oakton moms, at the expense of many others. Some of the homes that would be moved out of Chantilly are really close to it!

It leaves South Lakes untouched.
It leaves Oakton at full capacity plus.
It makes no sense.

Lee's Corner school is just across 50 from Chantilly. Some students are not far from Western, but closer to Chantilly.

This is to get Meren on board. I've been saying she wants to keep Hunter Mill at South Lakes.

Option A is the best and most reasonable.

It crushes Westfield. Maybe, they should put the magnet there.
