| What's Montreal like in the summer? Is there enough for a family with 2 toddlers to keep entertained for a whole week? Side trips? Swimming opportunities? |
|
It can be humid, like here. I went in August once and it was very hot. We are going again in May/June this year and I hope it's a little more temperate.
From what i remeber, There are cool museums, hanging out at the waterfront, Chinatown, the Olympic Stadium, and some sort of indoor Biodome with animal habitats. I think there is a planetarium as well. There are day-long bust rips to Quebec. And I was offered, but didn't do, a whale watching trip. Not sure if that's dependent on season, though. Not sure about swimming. We're taking our 5 year old this time, and I'm sure he'll be reasonably entertained. If you don't need a fancy hotel, I highly recommend the Hotel Y, which is part of the YWCA. It's very clean, and has self-serve laundry and fully-equipped kitchen on each floor. Make sure it's the hotel and not the hostel (same building, different floors). The hostel doesn't provide individual bathrooms for each room. Its very well located - Rene Levesque and Rue de St. Catherine if I remember correctly. And less than $100 a night. |
| A bust rip sounds painful. |
Yup. darned iPhone.

| The biodome is super cool. Your kids will love it! |

We were there last summer for 2 days. My kids were older than yours, though (youngest was 5). The kids LOVED the Biodome and the Botanical Gardens. We also visited the Science Museum on the waterfront (but toddlers might not be as interested) and rented those 4 wheel bikes.
I've heard that Quebec city is beautiful, maybe instead of a full week in Montreal you could spend part of the time in Montreal and part in Quebec city? We actually spent a couple days in Montreal, then went to Gattineau Park (outside of Ottowa) and camped for several days. |
| Montreal is okay nut I would budget 2-3 days there and definitely Quebec City for 2-3 days. Queec City is like going to Europe. Montreal is more like just another big city with some nice parts to it. |
