If you don't need a fancy hotel, I highly recommend the Hotel Y, which is part of the YWCA. It's very clean, and has self-serve laundry and fully-equipped kitchen on each floor. Make sure it's the hotel and not the hostel (same building, different floors). The hostel doesn't provide individual bathrooms for each room.

Its very well located - Rene Levesque and Rue de St. Catherine if I remember correctly. And less than $100 a night.[/quote]
