I have a sort of weird request for advice.
Does anyone know any good gift ideas that are large in size, but low in price? My daughter (3) has quite a few large gift items that will "pack a punch" under the tree. My son (9) has mostly requested video games. Right now, I don't have anything that looks large and "exciting" to unwrap. I know this isn't necessary, but I thought it would be fun to also get him a "big" gift. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

What about one of those gaming pillow things?
When my kids were younger I was not above using bigger boxes for small items to make it look even. |
| skateboard |
| basketball or soccer ball? |

OP here. Thanks for the suggestion. To give you an idea, I bought my daughter a bike and an easel. Both are fairly large in size. So, I'm looking for a gift where the package would stand at about 2'. But...I don't want to pay a ton.
Was thinking of a bean bag chair and/or bike, but don't want to pay $100+. |
| We had the exact same issue! I bought my boys huge inflatable dinosaurs (for $10/each...both about 4 ft tall!) that I'm planning on (well, planning on having my husband) blowing up and putting bows around their necks. I know he's too old for that, but maybe something inflatable? |
| A sled/toboggan? A soccer or hockey goal for the yard? A telescope (though I don't know if you could find an inexpensive one)? |
| A scooter? A sled? A framed poster for his room? A punching bag? |
| Set of kids golf clubs? |
| a sled! maybe even a two person giant sled! or a sled and shovel? |
| A bean bag. |
| One of those cardboard houses that kids can color themselves. $20 at Walgreens last week. |
Seriously??? Which Walgreens? I was going to order one online, but they were $45. |

A pogo stick--about $30 on Amazon.
Mashoonga swords--also about $30, and boys just go crazy over them! A Plasmacar--they are usually rather expensive, but I found them for $20 at Costco. Roller blades? Maybe $35 at Target. Can you tell I also have a boy who just wants video games, while I want to keep him running around outside?

I had the same idea as 13:00 but I'd say just a giant empty cardboard box I can do whatever I want with. Those were my absolute favorite things to play with till I was maybe 11.
I;'d get my mom to use a paper cutter to cut out windows and then it was all mine. I also didn't like sharing with my brother, or would make a "tunnel" to his out the back of the box. The boxes don't need to be that big. Remember, kids are small. Don't look for a "you-sized" box. Plenty of boxes available for free at large chain stores this time of year too - just go and ask at the back. |
