Underwear recs for little boys who hate to wear underwear?

My DS is 5 1/2 and hates the way underwear feels. Anyone have luck with a certain type/brand?
I was thinking maybe boxer briefs? I have tried regular style Hanes, fruit of the loom, and children's place and he hates them all. |

| What about them does he not like? Hanna Andersson makes extra soft (albeit pricey) briefs, boxers and boxer briefs. |

I was also going to suggest trying Hanna Andersson ones. They are tagless, which is sometimes the issue with my kids, and they're soft and hold up well.
Although if he really, truly, cannot stand being in underwear...can he go commando? At least at home? |

| My 4.5yo is like this, and he finally settled on boxer briefs (which are what his dad wears, so that helped.) Our rule is that he has to wear underwear to school, but otherwise he can go commando if he wants. I thought that might be a problem when wearing jeans, but as he refuses to wear anything but sweats, he's fine. |

target has tagless too. my son was able to wear those.
would girls boy short style in plain white or grey be an option. (it's not like he's changing in front of other kids at this age.) girls styles seem to have less elastic which he may find binding. |

| We like the Hanes boxer briefs. Target sells tagless ones. They aren't super tight in the leg, actually a little loose (but my dude is skinny, too.) Come in cool themes (robots, rock band, moon/space/stars, etc.). |

| Another vote for the boxer briefs. Both of my boys (9 & 4) hate regular briefs. They don't really mind the brand, as long as they are soft, so we go for plain old Hanes brand. Also, I buy a size up from their supposed size (so I buy 10/L for older DS and 6-8/M for younger). Those babies shrink up after a few washes and my guys still appreciate a little room! |

My picky kid likes these, too. The quality seems to have gone down and they are not as soft as previous ones I bought, but he still likes them so all's well. |
