A line is a line?

Anonymous
I know the saying that if you can see the line, it's positive. But for two days now I've had a line so incredibly faint that only a neurotic would have looked hard enough to see it. It's there but sooooo light. And it only got .1 percent darker over 24 hours.

Not a viable pregnancy? I am 9 days past O.

Wait a few days until day 13/14 and try again. You will drive yourself crazy staring at the lines!

I'm pretty sure you're pregnant. Congrats! The line should get darker as time goes on. Also, you could always head to the doctor to get it confirmed. Good luck!

I would be cautiously optimistic. I had a similar result last year and it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. Good luck- I hope it's a true positive for you!!!

Thanks, guys. 16:20, that is my thought. I'll report back.

Don't psyche yourself out here. I had this happen to me as well and I was not pregnant. It will be move obvious as the days go on if you are indeed preg.

I ditto this. Happened to me last cycle and now I'll never test early again. Crossing my fingers for you OP!!

I first tested around 8 DPO and thought I got a negative ... four days later I had a resounding positive. I then pulled the 8 DPO test out of the trash and looked at it under better light -- sure enough, there was a very faint line!

9DPO is still very early. IMO, you might be getting a similar line two days in a row just from being more or less hydrated. This is assuming of course that you are using FMU and the same brand test. I got a visible line (still not dark but unmistakable) at 11dpo. From there, it got darker in a way that added up to me day by day.
I would keep testing and keep your fingers crossed.

If its helpful, i always had a faint line and became pregnant with triplets. I would have thougt that would mean i should have a darker line. Good luck!

I got the faintest line at 10 dpo. DH thought I was crazy. The next day a digital test showed positive.

9 dpo is suuuper early.

I don't want to be a naysayer... but a line is a line unless it's a blue dye test. Blue dye tests give lots of shadow lines, especially if you read them after the 10-minute window. Pink dye tests are more reliable about not having evaporation lines that trick you. (Google "blue dye pregnancy tests" or "HPT evaporation lines" or some combination of those words.)

Good luck!

I had a line so faint I was sure it was some kind of rut the line was supposed to appear in, not the line itself. But it was a line, and I was pregnant. Good luck.

Thanks, PP, I agree. I should have said I am using First Response Early Result. I don't want to mislead others into thinking an internet cheapie or blue dye test is always a line is a line.

I always had false positives with blue dye tests. The best test was First Response Early result. With all four kids my lines were so faint. They never got darker either.
