I mean, we probably know the answer to that question. The open question is whether they stay open through the end of the spring.

Yay?

Was security a problem before?

No brainer that they need more security.. Not for the few students still left. For CW if and when he comes to town!

So I took a look at the cases against the school in DC Superior Court. The good news is the school is saving lots of money on attorneys by not appearing to defend itself in any of the cases. The bad news is that it has had multiple default judgments entered against it:

~$500K to Bennett Elia
$10K to SC Stevenson Consulting
$1.514M to Corbett Technology
$19K to Moco Kidsco
$211K to Singer Equipment Co.
$525K to Kogok Corp.
$244K to Children's Hospital

That's a total of more than $3 million in judgments, all of which are accruing interest. Some of them will likely increase because of attorney's fees. In a couple of these cases, the plaintiffs have filed notices of attachment to prevent banks from distributing any money in the school's accounts. (No idea how money is moving to pay for things in light of those orders - maybe the school has other accounts the plaintiffs haven't found.)

Motions for default judgment may yet be entered for:
Rosendin Electric: $6.94M
Turner Construction: $8.283M
Precision Doors: $158K

So about another $15.4 million.

I was trying to figure out whether there was an auction but I couldn't find that info.

From what I can tell, they are still moving forward with plans for next year.

I just called their admissions office, posing as an interested parent. He seemed taken aback by my interest, asking why I was calling them of all schools and wondering how I had heard of them. But he did say that I was welcome to submit an application through Ravenna. He didn't ask for my name and number, which is basic information any serious admissions person should ask for.

Why would you do that? Got nothing better to do with your time? Wow.

Damn. That doesn't sound like they expect to be open.

Looking forward to CW blaming the Russia sanctions as the reason he's unable to make payments.

I just heard from high school admissions that WSS hopes to have an update on their status for next year "at the end of March" or "next week" and something definitive by "the end of April." Meanwhile, they're happy to walk a family through the pieces of the admissions process and arrange a campus tour, which should be planned before everyone disperses in the summer. Also mentioned was that the $75 application fee is non-refundable.

Well, they have to pay for these incremental security guards somehow...

Seems a better use of time than posting a comment about having nothing better to do with one's time
