My entire body is out of place and I am only 27! Neck, shoulder blade, and hip. I do go to the chiro which helps, but I need to try something else!
Pilates
Both.
It REALLY depends upon the teacher (for both), and the style of yoga. Look for an Iyengar class with a certified Iyengar teacher - Unity Woods (various locations) is great. Look for a well-trained teacher in either Pilates or yoga - without this, unfortunately, injuries/imbalances can worsen.
I agree. I'm not a yoga fan, preferring pilates. However, it does hit places pilates doesn't. But pilates does indeed hit the core, which helps with alignment. My daughter, who has scoliosis, takes yoga to strengthen her back. She loves it. |
It's a personality thing too. I really don't like pilates and with my issues, it tends to strain and not relax my neck and upper back. LOVE yoga, has totally helped me.
My cranio-sacral therapist told me that her yoga clients have the most screwed up backs. Perhaps you should stick to pilates.
