I just KNOW it.

| That's ok...mine is autistic. He'll slow the class down enough that no one will learn a damned thing. He'll be average in NO TIME!! |
| Mine is leaving next year for Hogwarts--take that, Muggles! |
|
Mine was exposed paint fumes from a house 4 blocks away for about 8 seconds in utero.
He has superpowers now. |
| Mine child glows in the dark...she can read in bed after we tuck her in for the night... |
A**hole, why don't you educate yourself about autism instead of making stupid jokes. |
Why are you assuming PP doesn't actually have an autistic son? |
| Anyone who has an autistic child wouldn't make such an asinine and insensitive statement. Not cool. Not cool at all.....Totally ruined what could have been an amusing thread. |
| Well, my ADD kid is pushing your 1st grader, causing them to bleed and ripping his shirt! |
| Only on DCUM..someone starts what should be a humorous thread on parents idealizing their "gifted" kids and you assholes turn it into a free-for-all on kids with disabilities. What is wrong with you? |
Actually my son IS autistic. He's a smart dude, but would never do well in OP's classroom of overachievers because he is disruptive and impulsive. 18:24 got it. |
Please provide a list of topics that should not be included in a humorous thread. Thanks. |
No you don't. Provide data. |

NP here. Self-directed humor takes the sting out of a perceived or real injustice.
Of course it's never acceptable for a parent of a "normal" child to make jokes about our disabled kids. Maybe it is similar to ethnic groups joking about their ethnic-rooted personalities/characteristics (never ok for someone outside the group to do so - it would be racist). Have I unruffled your feathers?
My ADHD kid is definitely more creative and imaginative than yours! In fact, we can never get him to stop, and he hardly knows reality from pretend... |
How is one light hearted comment by a mom of an autistic child turning it into a free-for-all? |
