It’s a final ranking…meaning it doesn’t change. No matter what hate you continue to spew, it doesn’t change what that team accomplished this year.

I know everyone loves data, so here are the end of 8th grade rankings over the last several years for the top DC-area team:

2029 M&D DC #15
2028 Pride Red #7
2027 BLC Blue #7
2026 Stars Light Blue #7 *
2025 Pride Red #13

* 2026 class also had #9 Pride Red

This data is very interesting. Would these teams have been better off staying together? Cap 27 and 28 haven’t had anywhere near those rankings/successes. This may not bode well for 29’s based on this history.

Cap Blue 2029s will float around the mid teens in rankings, which is kind of on the top bracket/second bracket line for tournaments. The MDDC team would have had similar success if it stayed together, so not really an upward move for the MDDC girls but the BLC girls should be thankful. If not for the MDDC girls coming to Cap Blue, the team would be just BLC with some other randoms thrown in, and they would never get into the top 20 and be playing dookie teams in third brackets.

Even with this public data available, the best kids from MDDC and BLC CHOSE Capitals (blue and orange) over MDDC. They trusted the system and the track record that matters more than 8th grade rankings- elite coaching and college recruiting. MDDC had a good run this year, but NL last year finished ranked 15th with half the talent on the roster. The only chance MDDC had was to keep at least some of their top players, but even the legacy loyalists left (or tried to leave seeing 80% of the team at the cap tryouts). They must have seen enough of the club to want to get out. Capitals will continue to do what they do well and MDDC 2029 will be like 2028 pride (#79), stars (#206) and MDDC (#224) and fall into the B (maybe even C) league.

Here’s the pipeline for MDDC:
2030 #109
2031 #66
2032 #65

Future not looking bright for the club. They really need a hard reset 180 or Robinson is going to have severe buyers remorse just like Stars is having with MCE.

Here’s the pipeline for BLC:
2030 #10
2031 #15
2032 # 8

Those Capital teams at those age groups will be heavy BLC girls + stars

Yeah; let's etch that BLC 2032 ranking (didn't know they had them for 5th graders) in stone.

I think you need better data behind these rankings. For example, Pride 28 red played a bunch of weak teams in their final NGLL season. So the data is a bit skewed and maybe that’s why they are where they are.

The data behind the rankings is all of the games played by the hundreds of qualifying teams over the entire season. The algorithm takes into account how everyone fared against everyone else and determines a rating for each team, which determines each team's ranking. There is only one set of data and Pride Red 2028 was #7. There is no better data and it will never change.

Here is an FAQ in case you want to get smart on how rankings actually work:

In one case in the NGLL season playing a weaker team actually hurt their ranking. Pride Red played MC Elite and beat them 17-0 when they were only supposed to beat them by 14. But, the algorithm only allows a max goal differential of 10, so Pride's 17 goal victory, which was three more than they needed, was counted in the math as being 4 less than they need and their rating went down. It's just a math exercise and you can find it on the "Rating Math" tab of each team's page.

This is a shockingly bad call - like nobody has ever been more wrong about anything. Their NGLL season was actually the low point and their rating went down during that stretch. It was what happened after during the summer tournament circuit where they really outperformed and drove up their rating, including beating Aces and Eagle Stix in their final tournament, Summer Genesis Origins, where they were the top bracket champions.

I did think we'd be getting some Pride parents stepping in here on that one.

I’m well aware of the data and algorithms Mr. Peabody. My point is that the 28 red team played a weaker schedule than other top teams and it showed when they got into the playoffs and maybe the rankings aren’t as full proof as you seem to think they are.

Another genius that thinks the flaw in the rankings is it should go with a cherry picked small sample size and their own rando sports theories instead of a huge dataset because "you need (this?) better data".

Don’t be surprised if there are great players from other clubs you haven’t mentioned here. They may also take athletes over more polished players.

The BLC 33's just won the NGLL for a second year in a row. Clearly that is a talented team as well. Unless NL/MDDC pays for another team to artificially form, they will be a distant 2nd or 3rd to BLC locally for the foreseeable future.

No better than 3rd with Rebels already ahead of them for 32s and 33s.
