I'm starting to get worried Trump will win despite the convictions. Biden's electoral victory was only 44,000 votes in 2020 across a few states. Joe's approval rate is down 10pts despite all he has accomplished. Support from people of color and younger votes has declined. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM? DO THEY WANT 4 YEARS OF TRUMP?! |
The people you’re screaming about are just tuned out. They don’t want to rematch they’re upset about inflation and rent. They will come home to Biden because when they accept Trump is the nominee I’ll be back crawling over broken glass to vote him out. Noticed I say vote him out not vote for Biden? Yes, it’s possible to just vote against Trump. |
I have no idea how November will go. I do find it curious that since Dobbs, every single election (but one), the R candidate has lost. Why would this election be different? A convicted felon, a Dobbs supporter, etc. But he's polling very close? |
There is a way of getting around that. It’s called the appeals process. |
But 2 of the 3 polls taken since the conviction have shown that Biden went from a dead even to +2%. Slightly more people changed from undecided or Trump to Biden than went from undecided or Biden to Trump. There are more people who care about the conviction than don't. And this is likely to be a slow erosion of Trump support. Until the next election oriented news, it is likely to slide a percent or two more in the next few weeks. Right now nearly 60% of the population felt that the conviction was right and that Trump is a felon and that it is a bad thing. There are still the rabid base who don't care or those who decided that the way the trial was run was a bad thing and will go toward Trump, but it is a smaller group than those that swing away from Trump. I expect that when November rolls around, the proportion of people voting for Biden and Trump will be about the same as 2020, but in smaller numbers. There was unprecedented voter turnout for 2020. I don't think we'll have that again, but I expect that the numbers will stay about the same. That's for the popular vote. The real question is where are those votes and how will the electoral college shake out. |
The partisan Trump crowd who believe that there was something wrong believe that the appeals process will exonerate Trump. But the reality is that there are very few legally legitimate reasons for granting an appeal and the New York appellate system will be hard pressed to overturn the ruling. It is unlikely to be overturned in the state of New York, but the question is that are there truly grounds to appeal to SCOTUS and if so, will the partisan SCOTUS rule in favor of Trump or will they decide on the actual legality of the case. |
PP. you’re correct, trump is eligible to appeals, because that is how our system works. I will accept the outcome if it gets overturned. Will you accept the outcome if it doesn’t? |
Disapproval does not mean voting for the worse guy. |
Of course. Did anyone happen to notice the complete lack of rioting and burning after the verdict? Check your premises. |
No rioting. Only death threats, threats of violence and doxxing of the judge and jury. I hope that no one gets hurt by the deranged MAGA. |
The J6 prosecutions have served an important purpose. |
Please cite the legal grounds for an appeal. |
There is none. It's just a way to delay him actually serving any sentence until after the election. See also: his federal cases. |
