We all had THAT friend who married super late and insists on a huge wedding. It's so cringe.

They are winning at life and yes they are cringe. They own it.

I've always thought she was cringe, but in a good way: She's out there doing what she wants, takes her job and her fans seriously, and she's not afraid to be "too much". And she picked a guy who is very much the same. I'm not even a fan (own none of her albums) but it's crazy to claim she is washed up when she is still in the very top streaming and grossing artists, including for this year. And some of the other artists up there like Rihanna, The Weekend and Drake are around her age. As for young people, yes, they like new music, then tire of it. Enduring is harder.

She's definitely not washed up and the posters saying that are being ridiculous. Whether her music or specific brand of celebrity is for you, she's clearly still very much on top. You hear her music everywhere, it's ubiquitous. I didn't even like her last album at all but I hear Opalite all the time and still find myself singing along sometimes. She's not washed up.

That said, I have a totally different take on her cringiness. I respect her enormously as an artist and a businesswoman, there are few other artists who have found a way to marry commercial success with making what appears to be *exactly* the music she wants to make. But her public persona and her brand of cringe really bugs me. Where you see someone who isn't afraid to be "too much", I see entitlement and a level of ego that really grates on me. It's just something that happens when someone hits that level of superstardom. I felt the same about Michael Jackson in his "King of Pop" phase (before the pedophilia allegations even). Madonna is another great example. They also weren't afraid to be "too much." It's because they have enormous egos, more money than God, and forgot their $hit stinks just like everyone else's.

I love some of her music and can overlook the personality issues to respect her as an artist, but I'm not going to try to find someone to defend this circus as anything other than a self-absorbed celebrity circle jerk. And yes, Travis is similar to her in personality and the combination is nauseating to me. Sorry not sorry. Anti-hero is still one of my favorite songs of the last decade.

But doesnt shechave someone to tell her a stadium wedding reception is a bad look, will make you mocked and despised. Can no one tell her this?!

NP-I really doubt she's actually doing this. Always thought she'd get married at her Rhode Island mansion because it's such an ideal setting for that. She usually has her 4th of July party there. Maybe she's planning some sort of a party for fans at MSG.

The mansion is great for the bachelorette, but would that work for a huge wedding. It is literally on a public beach for the bachelorette they had police from the town hanging out by the house to make sure no one can walk up. It’s very easy to walk up though.

They’re also be tons of helicopters and people are speculating that you can’t fly over Madison Square Garden so they don’t have to deal with that

If she wanted to do something tiny like Carolyn and John that would work, but it sounds like they want to big so they have to to get creative. I tend to think they’re doing a tiny wedding somewhere secret and having a big party at MSG.

Don’t know what happened to my post, but I was just saying the Rhode Island mansion will not work for a big wedding. It’s right off a public beach and very easy to just walk up. They have security and things, but it would just be really hard to control plus there could be tons of helicopters.

I tend to think they are doing something tiny and secret like Carolyn, but having the big party at MSG.

Or we have friends that never marry and nobody judges in my crew because to each their own.
She’s Taylor Swift. If she was getting married at 80 it would be a big deal. You’re cringe but too dense to own it.

Nobody cared when Mariah Carey got married. Or Rihanna. Or Beyoncé. Or Madonna. Sure, it’ll be viral for a weekend. And then Swift is stuck with this idiot. Middle aged pop stars don’t move the needle. And Kelce is legitimately gross and revolting to casual observers of pop culture. It’s not like Swift is marrying some gorgeous English singer or a hunky hockey player. She’s marrying an ugly dummy.
Taylor is a bigger star than everyone you mentioned.

It’s wild how many people on here must have horrible marriages and can’t understand how someone can actually be happy with their partner because they aren’t, themselves.
She can be herself with Travis, they have fun together and he makes her happy. Good for them. The haters on here are probably in horrible marriages where they just want to rain on someone else’s happiness.

Making a shameless public spectacle of your dating, engagement and marriage is the antithesis of genuinely happy. Being so thirsty for attention at the NBA game on the eve of her wedding was also super weird.

She’s clearly addicted to fame. She’s nearly 40 years old obsessively thinking about how to go viral. She doesn’t know how to age and fade from pop culture gracefully.

why should she?

How do we make our wedding the most viral slop ever?! Three words: Madison. Square. Garden.

Read the NY Wedding section. The classy people getting married at their advanced age do low-key romantic ceremonies and gatherings. You’re old. Just get it over with. It’s frankly weird as hell they waited over 3 years.

I 100% believe it is.

Me too - also insane if she rented MSG to throw people off.

You seem obsessed with age.

I think there will be a big party at MSG to which she and Travis will show up as an already-married couple.

You sound old, bitter and washed up. Maybe take your own advice about aging gracefully.

Yep. And it won’t be a sit down table cloth thing as one poster said, it will be loud and fun and Sir Paul will get up and jam with Ed Sheeran while Benson Boone does flips. I bet they all have an awesome time.
