Anyone find it odd how the only single female coach at the club is coaching boys? Nothing wrong with it but it would be nice if they had at least ONE female coach on the girls side

Ok Adam.

Bottom line is that FCV, right now after all local clubs have tryouts and offers, cannot field a team at many, many, age groups.

And there isn’t anyone staying except Tony (who was escorted out of LSP for trying to recruit kids) that has a positive story - and this is the 2015-2012 age groups. 4 whole years of kids all gone not because of the coaching carousel, but directly and only because of Adam.

So, enjoy, I guess. I’m sure it’s not that bad.

You are really odd. I’m not Adam and don’t know Adam. I’m a soccer parent that knows families who are going to fcv or considered it. Some I know really well and trust their judgment so there has to be more to it than what you keep spewing here. It’s really that simple. They know their field. They know their coach. They like the coach. Their kids are excited. Why does that make you so angry?

You just might be telling the truth about not knowing Adam. Because if you knew Adam, you wouldn't let your friends join FCV at this point.

Yet another example of the brilliance of AB!

Some of the new coaches seem good. And management may eventually get their act together with fields and such. But the fact is this club is in a major reset, with mostly new coaches and players. There are some that may find this appealing if you are coming from another club, getting a new fresh start sounds great. If you were already there and watched it all fall apart, coaches left, players all leaving, it’s a different story. One persons trash is another’s treasure

We will be joining their club for the first time this season from another club on the boys side. We are looking for a fresh start, and we were able to bring our four best players with us from a NCSL Division 2 team. That was the key factor in coming over was the fact we could do it with some kids that have already played together for three seasons. We attended both tryouts and practices and liked the coaching and environment. My son got offers from all the local clubs (VRSC, Loudoun, and Sterling) but he has an opportunity to play on the only boys teams for this age group rather than the second or third teams at other clubs. So the benefits of being the only team, continuing to play with his friends, and probably more playing time appealed to us. And if it doesn't work out, we have options for next year.

On a serious note can you (or anyone else) be more specific? Why do you say it's a dumpster fire and are there certain coaches to avoid? Certain coaches that are good?

I don’t think you will get more specifics because the poster isn’t going to have them.

I see an agenda behind the negative posts that claim dumpster fire, no fields, caustic environment, bad coaches etc. These are clearly people from outside the club being criticized who feel either threatened, slighted, or simply see an opportunity to advantage themselves by seeding unsubstantiated negativity into the inter-webs about the club. I don’t think the posts point to a parent making the criticisms.

To me the criticisms on this board don’t seem like they come from parents. I think when you read most criticisms they don’t seem to be about issues that would logically come from a parent whose kid plays for the club. Take the reoccurring issue about fields. Why would a parent whose kid isn’t going to play for the club next season care about the fields next season? Does the poster making the criticism believe readers can’t make their own decision about the status of fields? What would it say about a parent who complains about the fields about a club they choose to play for? All the clubs for the current season have fields so this isn’t about now, but next season. Is a parent really going to complain about a club and their field circumstance that they are choosing to play for in the future? That would be a really dumb parent to knowingly choose a club they have an issue with.

Taking a close look at the type of comments being made I suspect it is more club bashing going on than parental bashing of clubs. That means most of the criticisms aren’t well established other than trying to bring another club down as a way to advantage themselves. When you don’t have anything positive to say about yourself just drag the other guy down and Whala! you’ll feel better about yourself.

Specifics?

They let go of JH in February.

All 2015 and 2014 girls moved immediately to VRSC and they were accepted with open arms for Spring. 31 kids gone with one silly decision not to let him finish out the Spring season.

All but 3 (out of 27) 2013 girls leaving because of ED being fired on a random Wednesday.

All but 4 (out of 30) 2012 girls leaving because of ED being fired on a random Wednesday.

11 2009 GA starters gone.

13 2008 GA starters gone.

Potentially two returners in 2007.

I’m sure someone else can post the stats on other age groups.

VRSC, VDA, and Loudoun/NVA all have fields. AND have the Rec numbers to go first in the queue for Loudoun, PW county field allotments.

Firing coaches before you even have a chance to make your case to stay with FCV was incredibly dumb and solely at the hands of AB.

Coaches to avoid? I’ve seen AB be personally asked to leave a boys game at Bles Park. Boys side was gifted like 100 Barca players and now they have one hands’ worth left. Two of their GA coaches have never played. One hasn’t even coached, just reffed! Bastian has it together but he’s driving a Ford Pinto right now.

And it’s “Voila!”. Should probably know that once since Bastian is French.

That makes sense. JM will be your coach. My DS enjoyed playing for him. He actually cares about the kids.

No GA players are returning next year in 2010 & 2011. Spin the fresh start angle all you want. This was total mismanagement by AB.

Our family made a similar decision. Ready for a change. Excited. We will give it a year. Not worried in the least.

All 2010 GA players gone (next season). There won't be a single returning player next season.

The FCV GA program (north) is all but dead, if there are GA teams next year there will only be a handful of returning players and most of them should be at the oldest age group - the 11s, 10s, 9s and 8s went to other clubs, I think VRSC got most of the players but a good chunk to went to ECNL clubs and a handful to SYC GA. TSJ handled the whole situation horribly, they went radio silent on the family for a good 3~4 weeks which caused a lot of the families to scramble to look elsewhere. Then at least two of the coaches that were being brought in to replace CC, BP and ED quit before they even showed up.

I think the new coaches a doing a really good job closing out the spring season and had we of had any interaction with them prior to having to make a decision, we might of stayed but again TSJ said nothing for weeks on end and then had some half hearted town hall with the parents. It's almost like TSJ thought they were too big to fail and their name would keep families around alone and that's the exact opposite of what happened. I do put some blame on the coaches for quitting mid-season (Dec/Jan) and then causing more confusion by staying around for a couple months to get through Champions Cup in FL and most of the way through the Spring season. Poor communication, poor planning and poor management.

Especially on BP's part, guy loves to make X posts about players commitment and being committed to the team but can't even finish out his.

TSJ determined BP’s schedule. Not BP.

That's not what we were told by TSJ. Specifically AB. He said they wanted BP to finish out the season but they were only able to negotiate through April.

TSJ probably wanted BP and all the coaches to stay through the end of the season because if they didn't they'd have to poach coaches from other clubs or hire out of work coaches for the interim. It was a lose lose situation for TSJ and i don't fault them for that, i fault them for their communication, more lack of communication, to the families.

Poaching happened.

If he’s really that bad then I’d imagine TSJ can hire someone else. I doubt they’ll let a single person crash and burn an entire club. So either a) he’s not that bad and the rumor mill went haywire or b) he is that bad and he is very replaceable. Either way it seems pretty silly that this is the club’s demise. Our friends are taking a leap of faith yes but they are no dummies. They won’t stick around if it’s as bad as you say.

Yup. Poaching and he told VDA that he could boost teams by getting some FCV girls onto rosters before the ECNL roster freeze date to give them a boost for Seattle.

The crash and burn has already happened for the Girls Academy program. They lost all their players for next season. There's no replacing that.

The grassroots rec/regional travel plans might still work and who knows maybe that was their plan all along. Scrap the national platforms and try to build up a new club. If you have kids at young ages it's worth a shot to maybe grow with them. If you are at U13 or higher it's going to be a rough time
