If your baby had a deep cut that required stitches or glue, did it leave a scar?

My 13 month old crawled right into the corner of a bed and got a deep cut right between his eyes. I immediately took him to the doctor where they glued it together. This happened about two weeks ago and it looks really red and sore. It is so noticeable. I am really worried about scaring. I am using mederma about 5 times a day. If your baby had a deep cut, did it eventually heal or did it leave a scar? Thanks.

It was over 30 years ago, but I'm afraid I still have scars on my face from stitches I got as a toddler. The good news is that no one else notices them unless I have a tan.

My son was three when he had stiches for a cut on his cheek bone. He's ten now and you can only see it if you know it's there and you are looking for it. It's very faint. We also used mederma.

My DD got a cut lip when she was 1 1/2. You can still see it at 7, even though we had a plastic surgeon fix it and it was only a few stitches. But it is just part of her now and she looks beautiful. The cut doesn't really grow as they get older, so it becomes less noticable anyway. I remember that I was really upset for a few months over it.

My DD got about 5 stitches right in her eyebrow area a couple of months ago (she was 19 months old). It has healed nicely but so far I still see a scar. It definitely is not as bad as I expected when I was looking at her poor little face with the stitches in it but it is definitely still there.

Harry Potter! Kids will think he's the real deal

But really, moisturize and try maderma to help the scar fade.

Yea, he had stitches on eyebrow and can still see it plus no hair grew back even though it was only 3-4 stitches. Our ped said put lots of sunscreen on it over summer.

DS got 6 stitches right in the middle of his forehead shortly after he turned 3, almost a year ago, after he ran straight into the corner of a wall. Although we use mederma and keep sunscreen on it everyday, there is most definitely a scar and I think there always will be.

The scars may stay, but will "move" as baby grows into an adult. My husband got kicked in the head by a horse when he was two right above his eye. Although he lost a chunk of his skull and had many many stitches, it is not noticeable at all now and the scar "moved" up to just under his hairline.

DD got stitches on her lip area around 1.5. It's over a year later. If I look really, really hard, I can see a faint white line where the cut was, but it's not noticable on first glance or even in just regular conversation. I didn't use anything special on the cut to prevent scarring, either.

I was attacked by a dog when I was 2 1/2, and had 16 stitches. There is still a scar on my face, but people rarely notice unless I point it out. Because of the positioning, people occasionally comment on my cute "dimple."

My son cut his hand really badly on a razor that I had thrown out in the trash and had several stitches. A year later, I can't really see much of a noticable scar. Just a little faint white line.

DC had excellent plastic surgeon repair half inch cut on forehead at age 2 using internal and external stitches (somehow!). Surgeon extracted promise from parents to use high spf sunscreen everyday for the next year. We did and it became pretty much invisible. But that's more than just using sunscreen in the summer.

Yes, my son has a scar, and it has moved over time, but I don't think anyone who doesn't know about it notices.

FWIW, the plastic surgeons at Georgetown told us not to bother with the Mederma - that it really doesn't help, especially since a baby's skin is so good at regenerating compared to an adult's.
