How does lower level work? I see teams with five teams at one age group. Do the fifth team play or just practice? Do all teams have a fifth team for u9 and u 10?

As a GA family all this is more confusing than any signs of strength. I don;t understand how building up the second tier teams into a league is worth any annoucements. Strengthen your top programs and show the college commits first, thats what parents want. All this is actually making ECNL look more exclusive and stronger now. ECNL is still just as disorganized and money hungry, but now they have less teams and the market share when you ask top players what league they want. These things matter more than adding more teams from the same geographic region to just create a second tier, wtf!?

ECNL is the dominant player for girls and they have a regional league. GA is their main competitor so they create their own regional league. It’s as simple as competitors copying the leader. It happens all the time.
