Which is it? What about his behavior was threatening and scary? You said that unless they are at a Trump rally screaming at the press and the so-called-elites, they don't come across as threatening or scary. He was not at a Trump rally, and was not screaming.

He did absolutely nothing wrong. HE was insulted by the Black Israelites. HE was approached by Phillips. HE said NOTHING to Phillips.

Of course an amoral MAGA scum would think this.

What did he do wrong? Be specific.

If you dont see a problem with his demeanor, attitude and stance, the wrongness of his behavior, then you are part of the problem. He is radiating disrespect and challenge - noone stands like that, rigid and unsmiling directly where another perosn is clearly trying to go, purposefully in someone's way, unless you intend to send a message. His demeanor is clearly transmitting his ill-regard and disrespect for the other man. Normal behavior, when one means no ill-intent, would be to move to the side, without hesitation. A person who was not trying to get into a fight or argument in this instance would obviously have moved away. There was no reason, other than to intimidate, for him to stand like that in the other man's way. Its not normal behavior.

Sorry. He was NOT standing "where another perosn (sic) is clearly trying to go, purposefully in someone's way". Watch the video. the entire video. The group of students was standing off to the left side of the front of the Memorial steps, NOT directly in front of it. Phillips said he was trying to get to the Memorial. He could have walked DIRECTLY up the steps, unimpeded, to the Memorial. There was PLENTY of unimpeded clear space for him to proceed directly up the steps to visit Abe. . He chose to veer to the left and approach the group of students. There is NO WAY that Sandmann was blocking his attempt to get to the Memorial, as he claimed. You can spin it all you want, because you don't like Sandmann and the group of students, but your version is simply not the truth.

This was one of the ugliest of the many recent episodes of journalistic malpractice. The WaPo wrongly damaged the boy's reputation for decades to come and will be forced to pay handsomely for this injustice.

Not really, no. You may be conflating all social media and MSM with the Washington Post. Or you're just given to hyperbole.

A portion will go on. 30 of the statements still kicked out. They are looking into 3 statements.

First amendment will win out.

Kid is a punk.

He's now saying that WaPo's reporting that he blocked Phillip's way was defamatory. Does that make any sense?

Yes, it does. A major newspaper lied about what they could clearly see on video.

The video clearly shows that the boy stood in front of Phillips. Truth is a defense to defamation.

BS. Phillips approaches the boy and stood in HIS way. And the video shows exactly that. Stop lying.

Phillips approached the group. The boy went to meet him. They stood in front of each other. Blocking each other's way would be one way to describe it.

What lie are you referring to?

What a liar you are. Here’s the video where it can plainly be seen that Phillips approaches the group of students, makes his way to the middle, winds up face yo face with Sandman where he loudly sings and bangs his drum in Sandman’s face. Sandman doesn’t “walk to meet him”. He merely stands exactly where he had been, the entire time. And after about ten minutes of this, Sandman walks away.

The video is clearly narrated and the source is the NYT, so it will be interesting to see how you continue to try and spin it to suit your partisan narrative.

Watch this video - you can see that those boys were actively interacting with the NAs and that Sandmann chose to continue to stand there because he was mocking Phillips (especially after 2:00 mark)

Standing still and smiling as someone chants and bangs a drum in your face is “mocking” them? Huh, who knew?! You people are utter imbeciles.

Bullshit. They were doing Tomahawk chants, a racist gesture that's absolutely mocking in context. Our media has internalized so much of the right wing lies about the media that they're fell all over themselves to exonerate these kids, when anyone who watched the videos knows that they were absolutely making racist taunts at an old man.

BS. They were doing their school cheer. They weren’t taunting anyone; if anything, the NA protesters were trying to pick a fight with the students, merely because of their hats.

The "old man" had a sidekick with a camera. He walked up to the kids--not vice versa. He is an activist--not a nobody. And, his much touted Vietnam vet experience was debunked. He served during the Vietnam war and said that he was a Vietnam vet several times on camera--not just a Vietnam era vet. His service was also not the best. He was in the brig. This whole event was deliberate on his part.

He lied on CNN and said the kids were mocking the African American men--when, in reality, it was just the opposite.

Exactly this. As anyone with half a brain can see by viewing the video. Liberals are enraged by it because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

This has got to be satire. Once again, the aggressor here was Nathan Phillips, who deliberately walked up to Sandman and got in his face. Sandman wasn’t “threatening” or “intimidating” in any way. Interesting that you have no words of condemnation for the ADULTS who started the entire altercation.

Are the ADULTS suing? Wood calls Phillips unsavory; that sounds a little defamatory. But it's okay when Wood does it. Because he's a lawyer.

Should have said "rigid and smiling" - the smile increases the menace as its not a real smile. He isnt happy, he isnt engaged in some joyful pursuit. That "smile" also sends a message, and not a nice one. Srriously, anyone who understands normal social clues can understand the teenager's message.

WATCH THE VIDEO. He didn’t get in anyone’s way. He merely stood where he was as Phillips got in his face. Why should he move? Phillips was trying to intimidate HIM, not the other way around. And you’re saying he was “unsmiling” when others have been outraged that he dared to smile. So which is it?? Face it - nothing this kid could have done would have pleased you. All you see is his red hat and he automatically becomes some sort of villain your silly, warped minds. He did nothing, other than stand where he was and maintain eye contact with the grown man banging his drum and chanting in his face. You look idiotic arguing otherwise.

The most disappointing part of the incident (not the media coverage) is the failure of the chaperones then and no acknowledgement afterwards. The adults never seemed to realize how badly they messed up that day.

Poor kids, all of them.

I totally agree with the PP. This was an exceptionally ugly episode, made all the more so because it’s a kid who was accused of things he didn’t do. Apparently standing still and smiling at an aggressive adult are condemnable offenses. Between this, the Smollett (non)-incident, and the girl who lied about boys cutting her dreadlocks, you might want to start waiting for ACTUAL FACTS to come out before pouncing on people for no reason.

Should have said "rigid and smiling" - the smile increases the menace as its not a real smile. He isnt happy, he isnt engaged in some joyful pursuit. That "smile" also sends a message, and not a nice one. Srriously, anyone who understands normal social clues can understand the teenager's message.

So here's the thing, folks.

It's YOUR interpretation of a smile.

So . . . a smile doesn't land you in jail.

lol - You wouldn't last a day teaching HS students.
